The new Syracuse basketball staff, led by first-year head coach Gerry McNamara, is laser-focused on its current roster and preparing for the upcoming 2026-27 season. The Orange's recruiting efforts in the high school senior class are also paramount these days, with 2027 targets including SU in their list cuts and setting official visits to the Hill.
As it relates to the 2028 cycle, these are players entering their junior year in high school. Their recruitments have a long way to go, although Syracuse basketball coaches are making inroads in this class with scholarship offers and re-offers, while also reaching out to 2028 prospects since the contact period for this cycle opened on June 15.
Earlier this week, Inside the Loud House reported that the 'Cuse will not hold its annual Elite Camp later this month. SU's Elite Camp is typically a one-day event for players in the rising high school sophomore and junior classes.
I've had SU fans and high school prospects ask me about Syracuse men's basketball's annual Elite Camp, which usually takes place in late August. It looks like there won't be an Elite Camp this go-round, from what I'm hearing via sources. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

I would not read too much into this. Simply put, the Syracuse basketball staff is focused on its 2026-27 roster, which includes transfer forward Amarri Monroe, whose eligibility remains up in the air. The Orange coaching staff is also focused on its 2027 priority recruits.
It's entirely possible that the Elite Camp will return in late August of next year. Plus, as I already mentioned, 'Cuse coaches have offered or re-offered more than a dozen 2028 prospects while showing some level of interest in various other high school juniors.
