New York product Damian Mojica is a fast-rising 2028 four-star big man who holds an offer from Syracuse basketball and visited the Orange earlier this summer. His recruitment, though still in its early stages as a rising high school junior, is starting to take off. So are Mojica's national rankings in his class.
A few days ago, the 6-foot-8, 225-pound Mojica disclosed via his Instagram page that he picked up a scholarship offer from Big Ten Conference powerhouse Purdue, which has been one of the best teams nationwide in recent years, making the national championship game of the 2024 NCAA Tournament and reaching the Elite Eight this past spring in the 2026 Big Dance.
On July 13, the new 'Cuse staff offered a scholarship to Mojica. The native of Yonkers, N.Y., took an unofficial visit to the Orange in late June, as first reported by Inside the Loud House. That visit went well, and Mojica got to meet Syracuse basketball legend Carmelo Anthony.
Besides SU and Purdue, Mojica's early scholarship offer sheet also includes Oral Roberts, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Arkansas-Little Rock, East Carolina, Kennesaw State and Wake Forest.

This spring and summer on Nike's EYBL circuit, Mojica competed at a high level for the 16U team of the Bronx, N.Y.-based PSA Cardinals. According to the EYBL's Web site, he averaged 15.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game while connecting on 62.0 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from beyond the arc and 62.5 percent from the free-throw line.
Throughout the latest AAU campaign, the 'Cuse staff was in for Mojica, including at last month's season-ending Peach Jam in North Augusta, S.C. Both head coach Gerry McNamara and assistant coach Ben Lee, Mojica's lead recruiter, watched Mojica at Peach Jam, Inside the Loud House is told.
In a recent interview with recruiting analyst Jake Weingarten, Mojica said: "I love the relationship I have with Syracuse so far. Coach Lee and Coach McNamara have been super supportive of my growth so far. They’ve offered me a scholarship and have expressed their want for me."
The fall recruiting period will begin next month, and various college suitors are likely to be in for Mojica during open gyms at his high school, including Syracuse basketball, Purdue, Boston College, and Virginia Tech. He attends The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., which is part of the ultra-competitive New England Preparatory School Athletic Council ("NEPSAC").
When the Orange offered Mojica, within the 2028 class, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite placed him at three stars, No. 132 overall, No. 17 at power forward and No. 2 in New York. At the time of this writing on August 8, he had moved to four stars, No. 94 nationally, No. 11 at power forward and No. 1 in New York.
