Syracuse basketball visits 4-star Ahmed Nur; priority target will play in Overtime Elite

The fall recruiting period began on September 9, and the Syracuse basketball staff has checked in on various targets at open gyms since then.

Orange assistant coach Ben Lee recently made the trip to CIA Bella Vista in Phoenix to visit 2027 four-star wing/forward Ahmed Nur at an open gym, a source confirms to Inside the Loud House. CIA Bella Vista, a member of the 15-team Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Scholastic ("EYBL Scholastic"), won the high school national championship this past season.

Besides the 6-foot-9, 190-pound Nur, the 'Cuse staff has offered a scholarship to three CIA Bella Vista players in the 2028 class. They are four-star forward Isaiah Clarke, five-star point guard Liam Mitakaro and four-star forward Settimo Yugu.

The Bears are expected to be a significant contender again in the 2026-27 campaign as it relates to earning an invite to, and potentially winning, the season-ending Chipotle Nationals in Fishers, Ind., high school hoops experts have told Inside the Loud House.

Syracuse basketball is prioritizing 2027 four-star wing/forward Ahmed Nur.

Nur, ranked inside the top 30 nationally of the high school senior class by several recruiting services, is one of three 2027 priority targets for the Orange, along with five-star wing/small forward Moussa Kamissoko and five-star point guard Nasir Anderson. SU has one 2027 verbal pledge in Albany, N.Y., product Jack Donohue, a three-star wing.

In late August, Nur took an official visit to Syracuse basketball. His trip to Central New York went well, and the 'Cuse feels that it is in a good spot in Nur's recruitment. In the latest AAU season, he suited up for the 17U team of the Milwaukee-based Power 5 in the Adidas 3SSB league.

Beyond CIA Bella Vista, word recently came out that Nur, as a senior, will also compete in the Atlanta-based league Overtime Elite ("OTE") for the City Reapers alongside other prospects who play for the Bears, such as Clarke, 2027 five-star center Paul Osaruyi and 2029 four-star center Mamadou Issa Sow, who held a scholarship offer from the former SU staff under then-head coach Adrian Autry. Osaruyi was also offered by the Autry-led 'Cuse staff.

Two other Syracuse basketball recruits are playing in OTE this upcoming season. They are 2028 five-star point guard Tai Bell, who has unofficially visited the 'Cuse and wants to visit again at some point, and 2028 four-star guard Ka'Shawn Gill, who was offered by the Orange in July.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Bell will spend the 2026-27 campaign at Miami powerhouse Christopher Columbus High School. In OTE, he will compete for the Cold Hearts.

The 6-foot-6, 170-pound Gill has transferred to the Southeastern Preparatory Academy in Orlando, Fla., for his junior year and is on the RWE roster in OTE.
