The 'Cuse staff, led by first-year head coach Gerry McNamara, is recruiting the 6-foot-9, 190-pound Nur hard. He is one of three priority targets for the Orange in 2027, along with five-star wing/small forward Moussa Kamissoko and five-star point guard Nasir Anderson.
Kamissoko officially visits SU later this week, while Anderson will take an official visit to Syracuse basketball later this month. The Orange's 2027 class to date consists of three-star wing Jack Donohue, an Albany, N.Y., native who plays at The Newman School in Boston.
After Nur's official visit to Syracuse basketball, which began last Wednesday, where do things stand between him and the 'Cuse? For one, the visit to Central New York went quite well, multiple sources tell Inside the Loud House. The Orange is in a good spot with Nur, although he's not on commitment watch or anything like that.

Prior to visiting SU, Nur took official visits to Ole Miss and Purdue, and he has also unofficially visited Minnesota, an in-state college team for the Hopkins, Minn., native. Nur, who this spring and summer suited up for the 17U team of the Milwaukee-based Power 5 in the Adidas 3SSB league, is expected to officially visit Texas out of the Southeastern Conference beginning on September 4.
After his trip to the Longhorns, we'll be monitoring whether Nur sets up more official visits, and also if he sheds light on a commitment timeline. Behind the scenes, per recruiting analysts I've spoken with, Syracuse basketball has some buzz with Nur (and Kamissoko), but it's important to note that as the Orange pursues its 2027 priority targets, we have to keep in mind SU's current roster, the new 5-for-5 eligibility rules from the NCAA, and, of course, financial considerations.
Inside the Loud House believes that, at this juncture, the 'Cuse is one of the top schools for Nur, if not in the lead at this point in his recruitment. Let's see how his official visit to Texas goes, and if other visits are scheduled.
Nur, a top-25 national prospect in the 2027 class whose recruitment caught fire after he won MVP in June at the annual NBPA Top 100 Camp in Rock Hill, S.C., will spend his senior year at CIA Bella Vista in Phoenix, which won last season's high school national title.
It's worth mentioning that McNamara and his staff are recruiting CIA Bella Vista extremely hard, having offered three 2028 guys with the Bears in four-star forward Isaiah Clarke, five-star point guard Liam Mitakaro and four-star forward Settimo Yugu. The former SU staff under then-head coach Adrian Autry had also offered 2029 four-star big man Mamadou Issa Sow.
