Ian Condon, a 2027 four-star power forward from the talent-rich Washington, D.C., to Baltimore corridor, has set an official visit to Syracuse basketball for early September.
The 6-foot-7, 245-pound Condon, who received a scholarship offer from the Orange this past May, plans to take an official visit to the 'Cuse program from September 1 to September 2, Inside the Loud House has learned.
Condon is one of numerous 2027 prospects who have landed an offer from the new Syracuse basketball staff under first-year head coach Gerry McNamara. As far as I can tell, Condon has emerged as a priority recruit for the Orange in the rising high school senior class, along with others such as four-star point guard J'Lon Lyons and four-star big man Ahmed Nur.
Lyons will take an official visit to the 'Cuse from September 11 to September 13 (SU football will host fellow Atlantic Coast Conference squad California on Saturday, Sept. 12). Nur, meanwhile, will go on an official visit to the Orange, although a date hasn't yet been set, Inside the Loud House has reported.
Syracuse basketball is starting to get official visits lined up for the late summer and early fall.
Condon, as Inside the Loud House noted in another recent column, is poised to see his 2027 national rankings skyrocket. He's been one of the best all-around players this spring and summer on Nike's EYBL circuit while suiting up for the 17U squad of the Baltimore-based Team Melo.
This past weekend, amid a live period in grassroots hoops, the Orange staff was on hand for the EYBL session in Las Vegas, watching various recruiting targets, including Condon, who averaged about 20 points per game as a junior for the Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C.
To date in the current AAU season, Team Melo is 10-5 overall. Condon is averaging 18.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.1 steals per game while connecting on 44.5 percent from the field, 40.8 percent from 3-point land and 83.0 percent from the charity stripe.
Condon's full scholarship offer sheet includes schools such as N.C. State, Boston College, Belmont, Siena, UCF, Saint Joseph's, Virginia Tech, American, Villanova, California, Notre Dame and Northwestern. Given how well he's played of late (and in front of college coaches), it would not be a surprise if Condon's offer list balloons.
The top-100 national prospect is one of several key targets for the Orange in the 2027 class. Others include the aforementioned Lyons and Nur. Syracuse basketball recruiting enthusiasts will also want to monitor 2027 players such as five-star wing/small forward Moussa Kamissoko, four-star shooting guard RJ Moore, four-star small forward Carson Crawford, wing Jack Donohue, five-star center Lewis Uvwo and four-star power forward Zion Green, who took an unofficial visit to the Hill last August.
