The Syracuse basketball staff, as expected, is checking in on recruiting targets across different classes this weekend amid an NCAA-permitted live period in grassroots hoops.
The evaluation period began on July 9 and runs until Sunday. There's a second live period this month, from July 16 to July 19, when the shoe-sponsored AAU leagues wrap up their current seasons.
While it's highly likely that Orange coaches are watching prospects from several circuits, we know for sure that the 'Cuse is in Las Vegas, where Nike's EYBL league is holding a session. SU assistant coaches Arinze Onuaku and Ryan Daly both noted on their Instagram stories that they are in Las Vegas.
As our @NeilAdlerSU anticipated, the Syracuse basketball staff is on hand to watch recruits during the live period at the Nike EYBL circuit's session in Las Vegas. Orange assistant coach Arinze Onuaku confirmed that in an Instagram story post. 🧡

Also at this EYBL session has been Syracuse basketball legend Carmelo Anthony, whose son, Kiyan, is a sophomore guard on the 'Cuse roster for the 2026-27 campaign.

Syracuse basketball coaches are on hand for high school players this weekend during an AAU live period.
Beyond the Nike league, this weekend the Adidas 3SSB circuit is in Bryan, Texas, the New Balance P32 league is in Chesterfield, Mo., the Puma-sponsored PRO16 is in Richmond, Va.., and the Under Armour Association ("UAA") league is in Emerson, Ga.
On the first day of competition in Las Vegas, as Inside the Loud House detailed, multiple Orange recruiting targets in the 2027, 2028 and 2029 cycles played quite well.

One EYBL game that the 'Cuse staff watched, per a post on X from Jeff Rabjohns of 247Sports, featured the Miami-based Nightrydas Elite against the Baltimore-based Team Melo.
Lewis Uvwo, a 2027 five-star center with Nightrydas, holds an offer from the new Syracuse basketball coaching staff. So does 2027 four-star power forward Ian Condon, who competes for Team Melo.
On the EYBL circuit specifically, Orange coaches will watch numerous targets. Besides Uvwo and Condon, they could include 2027 four-star point guard J'Lon Lyons, 2027 wing/small forward Moussa Kamissoko, 2027 four-star shooting guard RJ Moore, 2027 five-star point guard King Gibson, 2027 four-star small forward Carson Crawford, 2028 five-star wing/small forward Will Brunson, 2028 five-star center Logan Chwastyk, 2028 four-star wing Isaiah Carter and 2028 three-star power forward Damian Mojica, among others.
