Syracuse basketball's 2027 high school class is likely done after four-star wing/forward Ahmed Nur verbally committed to Southeastern Conference member Ole Miss on Saturday, per reports.
The 6-foot-9, 190-pound Nur took an official visit to the Orange in late August, and it went well. He also went on official visits to Ole Miss, Florida State and SMU. After the fall recruiting period began on September 9, SU assistant coach Ben Lee was in for Nur during an open gym at his high school, CIA Bella Vista in Phoenix, as Inside the Loud House first reported.
Nur transferred to CIA Bella Vista, which won last season's high school national championship, for his senior year. He will also play for the City Reapers in the Atlanta-based league Overtime Elite alongside other CIA Bella Vista players.
Inside the Loud House recently reported that Nur, a top-30 national prospect in the high school senior cycle, was basically the lone remaining target for the 'Cuse staff in 2027, although things can certainly ebb and flow in recruiting.
Syracuse basketball has a talented two-member 2027 class.
In late September, 2027 five-star wing/small forward Moussa Kamissoko verbally committed to the Orange after officially visiting the Hill earlier in the month. The 6-foot-8, 180-pound Kamissoko, per Rivals, is the No. 7 national prospect in the senior cycle. Since the fall recruiting period commenced, the 'Cuse staff has been on hand for Kamissoko several times during open gyms.
The Bronx, N.Y., native will spend his senior season at the Spire Academy in Geneva, Ohio. Last week, as Inside the Loud House reported, Spire has joined a new 11-team international league known as ATLAS. Several Syracuse basketball five-star recruiting targets will also compete in ATLAS.
In early August, Albany, N.Y., native Jack Donohue, a three-star wing at The Newman School in Boston, verbally pledged to the Orange. The 6-foot-8, 220-pound Donohue took an unofficial visit to SU in late June and plans to officially visit the program at some point in the coming months.
Inside the Loud House first reported that Syracuse basketball assistant coach Arinze Onuaku was recently at a Newman open gym to watch Donohue, who analysts and scouts say will emerge as a four-star prospect with a strong senior campaign. He missed 10 months of action last year, as Donohue had to undergo open-heart surgery.
At the time of this writing, the 'Cuse 2027 class was inside the top 25 nationally, according to both the 247Sports Web site and the Rivals Web site. SU's senior cycle was always likely to be small, given that Syracuse's current roster sits at 15 players, and Orange coaches, like their peers, continue to emphasize transfer portal recruiting and also international markets.
