Syracuse basketball assistant coach Arinze Onuaku was recently in for 'Cuse 2027 verbal commit Jack Donohue during an open gym at his high school, Inside the Loud House has learned.

The 6-foot-8, 220-pound Donohue, a wing, verbally pledged to the Orange in early August after taking an unofficial visit to SU in late June. The Albany, N.Y., native is one of two high school seniors in Syracuse basketball's 2027 cycle, along with five-star wing/small forward Moussa Kamissoko, who verbally committed to the 'Cuse in late September and hails from the Bronx, N.Y.

Donohue is an underrated 2027 prospect. He missed about 10 months last year because he had to undergo open-heart surgery. A tremendous 3-point shooter who has a strong frame, Donohue is a senior at The Newman School in Boston. He previously played at the Christian Brothers Academy in Albany.

When Gerry McNamara was the head coach at Siena, he offered Donohue. McNamara was named the Orange's new head coach in the spring, and several of his Siena assistants, including Onuaku and Ben Lee, moved over to SU with McNamara. On June 25, Donohue disclosed via social media that he had received a scholarship from McNamara and the 'Cuse staff.

Syracuse basketball 2027 3-star commit Jack Donohue has a strong relationship with SU coaches.

Within the senior class, Donohue checks in at No. 207 nationally, No. 33 at power forward and No. 6 in Massachusetts, according to the industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking. Since he pledged to the Orange, multiple analysts and scouts have told Inside the Loud House that Donohue, with a great senior year at Newman, can evolve into a four-star prospect.

Donohue and the 'Cuse coaching staff are in discussions about setting a date for him to officially visit the program, Inside the Loud House is told. It's likely that his official visit will coincide with Donohue being able to watch a Syracuse men's basketball home game.

In late August, Inside the Loud House spoke with Donohue's new head coach at Newman, Justin Perron, who most recently led the St. Mark's School in Southborough, Mass. "His size and shooting ability make him an asset in any gym he walks into," Perron said in part about the Orange 2027 verbal commit.

Perron added that, in terms of Donohue pledging to the 'Cuse, "It's an awesome opportunity for Jack and his family."

Also in late August, Inside the Loud House conducted a telephone interview with Jackson Johnson, who led Newman last season and is now the head coach at the powerhouse IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

Johnson said of Donohue's decision to play for Syracuse basketball in the future, "It's a beautiful marriage."
