From a recruiting standpoint, the Syracuse basketball staff is focused on its 2027 class, which currently includes one verbal pledge and several priority targets.
Still, in the 2028 cycle, the Orange has offered more than a dozen prospects, including four-star power forward Damian Mojica from New York state. The 6-foot-8, 225-pound Mojica, a fast-rising prospect who has moved inside the top 100 nationally of the high school junior class, picked up his SU scholarship offer on July 13, after taking an unofficial visit to the 'Cuse in late June, as first reported by Inside the Loud House.
The fall recruiting period began on September 9, and the Syracuse basketball coaching staff has been out and about at open gyms visiting with various targets, including 2027 priorities and some 2028 guys.
Two sources confirm to Inside the Loud House that Orange assistant Ben Lee, Mojica's lead recruiter, is expected to be in for Mojica this fall during an open gym at his high school, The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., which is part of the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council ("NEPSAC").

When Mojica, a native of Yonkers, N.Y., unofficially visited SU earlier this summer, he got a chance to meet Syracuse basketball legend Carmelo Anthony. Inside the Loud House is told that the Orange staff and Mojica are discussing him taking another unofficial visit to the Hill in the winter, so that he can attend an SU hoops game.
Besides Syracuse, Mojica's offer sheet includes schools such as Purdue, Oral Roberts, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Arkansas-Little Rock, East Carolina, Kennesaw State, Wake Forest and Oklahoma State. UConn, which won recent national titles in 2023 and 2024, has recently reached out to Mojica.
In the latest AAU season, Mojica played alongside several other SU recruits for the 16U team of the Bronx, N.Y.-based PSA Cardinals. He averaged 15.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game while connecting on 62.0 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from beyond the arc and 62.5 percent from the free-throw line.
During the most recent grassroots hoops campaign, Orange coaches were on hand for Mojica and the PSA Cardinals in the 16U division, including at July's season-ending Peach Jam in North Augusta, S.C.
Within the 2028 class, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite places Mojica at No. 94 nationally, No. 12 at power forward and No. 1 in New York.
