On Monday, 2028 three-star power forward Damian Mojica from New York state took an unofficial visit to Syracuse basketball, as I reported late last week.

I'm told the visit went quite well. And, according to social media posts, the 6-foot-8 Mojica had the chance to meet Orange legend Carmelo Anthony, who was on hand for SU's practice on Monday. Considering that Mojica is from New York and grew up watching the Knicks, getting the opportunity to chat with Melo must have been awesome for this young man.

Mojica appears to be high on the 'Cuse as a possible future collegiate home, although his recruiting process likely has a long way to go. He's a rising junior in high school. On June 15, college coaches could start initiating direct communication with 2028 prospects. Since that contact period opened, Mojica has heard from various teams, including the Orange.

Mojica hasn't yet received a scholarship offer from Syracuse basketball, but he could certainly score one in the future. Next month, there are two live periods on the AAU circuits, and I'm told that the Orange staff will likely be in for Mojica in the EYBL league.

Syracuse basketball hosted 2028 three-star power forward Damian Mojica on an unofficial visit.

Mojica is a standout rising junior at The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., which is part of the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council ("NEPSAC"). On the EYBL circuit this spring and summer, he's playing for the 16U team of the Bronx, N.Y.-based PSA Cardinals in Nike’s EYBL league.

At least three other PSA Cardinals players in the 16U division have also heard from the new Orange staff since the 2028 contact period opened in mid-June. They are 2028 guard/wing Kingsley Rogers out of the Williston Northampton School in Easthampton, Mass., five-star wing Kevin Wheatley Jr. of the Masters Academy International in Stow, Mass., and five-star point guard Malik Moore of Union Catholic High School in Scotch Plains, N.J.

Since June 15, other college squads that Mojica has heard from include Stanford, Notre Dame, East Carolina, Towson, Oral Roberts, Buffalo, Boston College, Virginia Tech and Delaware, among others. His early scholarship offer sheet includes East Carolina, Kennesaw State, Hofstra, Oral Roberts and Arkansas-Little Rock.

Within the 2028 class, Rivals places Mojica at No. 114 overall, No. 21 at power forward and No. 2 in New York. Undeniably, as Mojica has performed well on the EYBL circuit and at other events of late, he will contend for four-star status in the coming months, analysts and scouts say.
