Syracuse Football: Analyst prediction arrives for 4-star WR with 'Cuse in his top 8
By Neil Adler
Daylyn Upshaw, a 2025 four-star wide receiver from Alabama who has Syracuse football in his top eight, is receiving some analyst buzz for one of his finalists from the Sunshine State.
This week, On3 vice president of national college football recruiting and the transfer portal Steve Wiltfong logged a prediction in the direction of fellow Atlantic Coast Conference member Miami in Upshaw's recruitment.
It's the first analyst forecast I've come across for the 5-foot-11, 175-pound Upshaw, and I'll certainly keep an eye out for others. Wiltfong is one of the country's top recruiting experts, by the way.
In early June, via X, Upshaw disclosed a top eight of the Orange, Miami, Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee and Penn State.
An ACC rival has some buzz for Syracuse football 2025 4-star WR target Daylyn Upshaw.
Upshaw, a standout rising senior at Central High School in Phenix City, Ala., took a visit to the 'Cuse in April, per his X page. Around that time, he landed a scholarship offer from the Syracuse football staff, which is led by head coach Fran Brown.
According to recruiting services, throughout his recruitment, Upshaw has landed more than 20 offers from a range of programs. As a junior during the 2023 term for Central, Upshaw caught 59 passes for 1,185 yards and 15 receiving touchdowns, per MaxPreps.
When I wrote this article on Thursday, the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking had him at No. 378 nationally, No. 61 at wide receiver and No. 18 in Alabama within the 2025 class.
To date, Syracuse football has secured verbal pledges from several three-star wide receivers in its 2025 cycle. The most recent was wide receiver/athlete Gabe Daniels of the Greater Atlanta Christian School in Norcross, Ga., who in late June verbally committed to the 'Cuse over Kansas.
Earlier this week, 2025 three-star wide receiver Isaiah Mizell of Boone High School in Orlando, Fla., verbally pledged to Arizona. He had a final four of those Wildcats, the Orange, Kansas State and fellow ACC school Georgia Tech.
On July 4, elite 2025 wide receiver Winston Watkins Jr. of Venice High School in Venice, Fla., included Syracuse football in his top 16, although Southeastern Conference member Ole Miss has some buzz in his recruitment, as I noted in another recent column.
Watkins, who in late March took an unofficial visit to the 'Cuse, is rated five stars and inside the top 20 around the country within the 2025 class by Rivals.com.
