Daylyn Upshaw, a four-star wide receiver and a nationally ranked prospect in the 2025 class, has named a top eight that includes Syracuse football.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Upshaw, a standout rising senior at Central High School in Phenix City, Ala., said in a post on X that his final eight features the Orange, Miami, Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee and Penn State.

In April, according to his X account, Upshaw took a visit to the Hill and also picked up a scholarship offer from the 'Cuse staff, led by head coach and ace recruiter Fran Brown.

Per recruiting services, Upshaw has amassed more than 20 scholarship offers from a range of high-major programs.

Syracuse football remains a contender for 2025 four-star wide receiver Daylyn Upshaw.

Per his bio on the MaxPreps Web site, as a junior during the 2023 season for Central, Upshaw hauled in 59 passes for 1,185 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns through the air.

Multiple recruiting Web sites, within the 2025 cycle, place Upshaw as a top-60 wide receiver around the country. At the time of this writing, the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking had him at No. 451 overall in his class.

Without question, the Orange staff will have to beat out some heavyweights in college football to prevail for Upshaw, but it's also encouraging that the 'Cuse has made his top eight.

To date, Syracuse football has secured at least 19 verbal commitments in its 2025 class, a cycle that hovers around the top 10 nationally, per several recruiting services.

The team's 2025 pledges include several receivers, such as three-star Darien Williams of the Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse, three-star Terrell Wilfong of West Orange High School in West Orange, N.J., three-star Julian McFadden of La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor, Pa., and three-star Daunte Bacheyie of the Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse.

This past weekend, 'Cuse coaches hosted a bunch of 2025 recruits on official visits, including three-star wide receiver Gabe Daniels of the Greater Atlanta Christian School in Norcross, Ga., and three-star wide receiver Isaiah Mizell of Boone High School in Orlando, Fla.

From June 14 to June 16, among those 2025 targets expected to take official visits to Syracuse football are four-star athlete/wide receiver Jeff Exinor Jr. of the McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Md., and four-star athlete/wide receiver Tyler Williams, who recently said on X that he would transfer for his senior year to Armwood Senior High School in Seffner, Fla.
