Syracuse Football: Speedy 3-star WR, who had officially visited, makes college choice
By Neil Adler
Isaiah Mizell, a speedy 2025 three-star wide receiver from Florida, had Syracuse football among his finalists but is opting to head to the Big 12 Conference.
On Wednesday night, the 6-foot-1, 170-pound Mizell said he was verbally committing to Arizona, a new Big 12 member this coming season. He had a final four of the Orange, Arizona, Kansas State and fellow Atlantic Coast Conference school Georgia Tech.
Leading up to his commitment announcement, in recent days, both Arizona and Georgia Tech had some buzz for Mizell on recruiting Web sites.
In a piece from 247Sports national analyst Brian Dohn, he wrote that ultimately it came down to those Wildcats and the Yellow Jackets. "I chose Arizona because it's a family over there and their system fits me the best," Mizell said to Dohn. "Development and their developers (were important)."
Syracuse football has verbal pledges from several 2025 three-star wide receivers.
Mizell, a rising senior at Boone High School in Orlando, Fla., received a scholarship offer from the Orange on January 7 of this year. He took an official visit to the Hill from May 31 to June 2.
As a junior at Boone in the 2023 season, Mizell caught 48 passes for 1,061 receiving yards and 21 scores through the air, per his X page. He also had two kick-off return touchdowns.
Currently, the Syracuse football 2025 class has 27 verbal pledges. At the time of this writing, this 'Cuse cycle checked in at No. 31 around the country, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.
While Mizell is going to Arizona, Orange coaches have verbal commitments from several three-star wide receivers in their 2025 class. For one, on June 29, 2025 three-star wide receiver/athlete Gabe Daniels of the Greater Atlanta Christian School in Norcross, Ga., chose the 'Cuse over Kansas.
On July 4, 2025 five-star wide receiver and top-20 national prospect Winston Watkins Jr. of Venice High School in Venice, Fla., included Syracuse football in his top 16, although Southeastern Conference member Ole Miss has some buzz in his recruitment.
In other news out of the 2025 cycle, three-star offensive lineman Jayden Mann of Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, N.Y., will make his college decision on Thursday. His top four are the Orange, Rutgers, Georgia Tech and West Virginia.
CJ May, a 2025 four-star edge with Highland Home High School in Highland Home, Ala., has a final four of Syracuse football, Louisville, Washington and Auburn.
May plans to make his commitment announcement on July 13. Fellow ACC member Louisville has multiple predictions in its favor for May on recruiting Web sites.
