Lewis Uvwo, a 2027 four-star center and new Syracuse basketball target, has a ridiculous 7-foot-7 wingspan, and he's using that to his advantage on Nike's EYBL circuit this spring.
The EYBL is currently hosting its third spring session, in Kansas City, Kan., through Memorial Day, and various Orange recruits are competing at a high level, according to national analysts and scouts.
One of those SU targets is the 6-foot-10, 225-pound Uvwo, a top-20 national prospect and a top-three center within his class who attends the powerhouse Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Uvwo, whose scholarship offer sheet has blown up lately, plays in grassroots hoops for the 17U team of the Miami-based Nightrydas Elite in the Nike league.

On Sunday in Kansas City, Nightrydas Elite notched a 69-65 victory over the Charlotte, N.C.-based Team United, whose roster also features Syracuse basketball recruits. Per a box score on the EYBL Web site, in the win, Uvwo tallied 28 minutes, 15 points, 14 rebounds, four blocks and one steal while making 7-of-10 from the field (although just 1-of-5 from the charity stripe).
New Syracuse basketball target Lewis Uvwo is elite on defense and the glass.

Through the EYBL's first three sessions, Uvwo is averaging 10.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.1 steals and an EYBL 17U-leading 5.4 blocks per game while connecting on 68.7 percent from the field and 47.8 percent from the free-throw line.
Lewis Uvwo stands at 6’11” with a 7-foot-7-inch wingspan and a 9’3” standing reach.

In a recent post on X, ESPN recruiting director Paul Biancardi said of Uvwo, "He stays in the paint to post up, receive a lob pass, or finish a drop-off at the dunker’s spot. He is a strong screen setter and a massive roll target. He catches the ball well and works the glass at a high level. A true rim protector and serves as a barrier at the rim."
Considering Syracuse basketball's relative struggles on defense and at the center spot in recent seasons, although William Kyle III was awesome in the 2025-26 campaign, that the new 'Cuse staff is making a run at defensive-minded big men like Uvwo and fellow 2027 four-star center Caleb Ourigou is encouraging. This also fits in with the culture and the type of SU program that first-year head coach Gerry McNamara wants to build.
Uvwo's full scholarship offer sheet includes schools such as Arkansas, national champion Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Cincinnati, Providence, Miami, Seton Hall, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Kansas, Florida, Alabama, Southern California, BYU, UCLA, Mississippi State, LSU, Texas and Baylor.
In late April, the Orange offered one of Uvwo's Prolific Prep teammates, 2027 five-star point guard and top-10 national prospect Nasir Anderson, who this spring and summer on the AAU circuits is balling out for the 17U team of the Atlanta Celtics in the Adidas 3SSB league.
