Syracuse basketball coaches are getting into the mix for one of the top centers in the 2027 class.

Per a post on X from national analyst Sam Kayser, the Orange is among numerous schools that, over the last week, have offered 2027 four-star center and top-20 national prospect Lewis Uvwo, who attends the powerhouse Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

On the AAU circuits this spring and summer, the 6-foot-10, 225-pound Uvwo is competing for the 17U team of the Miami-based Nightrydas Elite in Nike's EYBL league. Uvwo is a fast-rising prospect in the 2027 class, with analysts and scouts praising his defensive prowess and rim protection.

According to Kayser, other recent offers for Uvwo include Arkansas, national champion Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Cincinnati, Providence, Miami, Seton Hall, Texas A&M, Ole Miss and USC.

In the 2025-26 campaign, Prolific Prep went 38-4 overall, advanced to the season-ending Chipotle Nationals and was ranked in the top six nationally by ESPN and MaxPreps. Late last month, another Prolific Prep standout, five-star point guard Nasir Anderson, scored a scholarship offer from the new Orange staff, which is led by first-year head coach Gerry McNamara.

Other offers that have arrived for Uvwo throughout his recruitment include BYU, UCLA, Mississippi State, LSU, Texas and Baylor, per his bio on recruiting Web sites. Last week, I had an article on Inside the Loud House where I looked at some high school prospects, including Uvwo, who might land Syracuse basketball offers, based on social media activity among those players and the Orange coaching staff.

Within the 2027 cycle, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite places Uvwo at No. 31 overall, No. 4 at center and No. 6 in Florida. At 247Sports, he is No. 19 nationally, No. 3 at center and No. 6 in Florida.

So far this spring, the EYBL circuit has conducted two spring sessions. In April, the Nike league was in the Atlanta area, while this past weekend, during a live period where the Syracuse basketball staff was watching targets in person, the EYBL was in Memphis, Tenn.

During the first session, the scouting experts at The Circuit named Uvwo their defensive MVP and also to the All-EYBL third team and the All-Defensive squad after he averaged 10.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.0 steals and a ridiculous 6.3 blocks per game.

Last weekend in Memphis, Uvwo averaged 8.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 6.0 blocks per encounter.

Besides Uvwo and Anderson, Syracuse basketball has recently offered 2027 prospects such as five-star point guard King Gibson and four-star shooting guard RJ Moore, while the new Orange staff has also re-offered four-star center Caleb Ourigou.
