Syracuse basketball first-year head coach Gerry McNamara and his staff are laser-focused on their upcoming 2026-27 season, along with their recruiting efforts in the high school senior class.
Things are becoming a bit clearer as far as the Orange's 2027 prep cycle, amid a dead period in Division I men's hoops ending on August 19 and the fall recruiting period set to begin on September 9.
High school seniors are setting official visits and trimming down their lists of suitors still in contention within their respective recruitments. Once September 9 arrives, we will start to see SU coaches hit the road to watch targets at open gyms and also conduct in-home visits.
Here's the latest intel on Syracuse basketball's 2027 class.
So far, the 'Cuse has one verbal pledge from three-star wing Jack Donohue, an Albany, N.Y., native who attends The Newman School in Boston. The 6-foot-8, 220-pound Donohue took an unofficial visit to the Hill in late June of this year.
At this juncture, Syracuse has three priority recruits in 2027, a source tells Inside the Loud House. They are five-star point guard Nasir Anderson, five-star wing/forward Ahmed Nur and five-star wing/small forward Moussa Kamissoko.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Anderson, a standout floor general at Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., has the 'Cuse in his top 10 and will take an official visit to SU at some point during the weekend of Thursday, Sept. 17, to Sunday, Sept. 20, Inside the Loud House reported on Monday.
Anderson's top 10 includes Syracuse, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Providence, Tennessee, UConn and Virginia. McNamara is pushing hard for Anderson, who doesn't plan to sign during the early period this November. Naturally, the competition is steep for the Orange, and Anderson will likely command a hefty financial package.
The 6-foot-9, 190-pound Nur will spend his senior year at CIA Bella Vista in Phoenix, which won last season's high school national championship. Nur recently took an official visit to the Orange, and it went well.
The 'Cuse staff believes it is in a good place with Nur. He has also officially visited Ole Miss and Purdue, and unofficially visited a home-state team, Minnesota. Nur is set to officially visit Texas on September 4. Inside the Loud House will monitor any other visits that he sets, and if a commitment timeline emerges.
The 6-foot-8, 180-pound Kamissoko, who recently transferred to the Spire Academy in Geneva, Ohio, will take an official visit to the Orange later this week, from September 3 to September 4. This past weekend, he took an official visit to Florida State, and Kamissoko also has trips scheduled to Virginia, Oklahoma State, BYU, Illinois, UConn, Louisville and Baylor.
We'll have to see how Kamissoko's official visit to SU goes, but at this point, the Syracuse basketball staff, similar to Nur, feels like it's in a solid position with Kamissoko (perhaps in the top three or so for both recruits). It's worth noting that the Orange has recruited Kamissoko for a while, first offering a scholarship to him in late December 2024, when Adrian Autry was at the team's helm.
This brings us to three 2027 prospects who have included the 'Cuse in their recent list cuts. Five-star combo guard King Gibson has Syracuse basketball in his top 10, while four-star guard Devin Cleveland has the Orange in his top seven and four-star wing Carson Crawford has said the 'Cuse is in his top five.
Things can ebb and flow in the recruiting processes of high school players. At this time, though, Syracuse basketball coaches aren't aggressively pursuing Gibson, Cleveland or Crawford, a source tells Inside the Loud House.
Update: Ian Condon, the 2027 four-star wing/forward from the DMV who was scheduled to officially visit Syracuse basketball from September 1 to September 2, is no longer visiting the Orange this week, two sources confirm to Inside the Loud House.

Inside the Loud House reported on Monday that 2027 four-star wing/forward Ian Condon, who was set to officially visit the Orange from September 1 to September 2, is no longer visiting the 'Cuse this week. There is no rift between Condon and the Syracuse basketball staff. Both parties have just elected to move in different directions. It happens in recruiting.
One other 2027 name to potentially consider is five-star center Lewis Uvwo, who plays alongside Anderson at Prolific Prep. The Orange offered a scholarship to Uvwo in the spring. Inside the Loud House is told that 'Cuse coaches continue to have conversations with the 6-foot-10, 225-pound Uvwo, although for now, other schools appear more heavily involved in his recruitment.
Another facet to keep in mind with Syracuse basketball's 2027 prep class is that it will likely be relatively small in size. For one, the 'Cuse 2026-27 roster is flush with guys who can return in the 2027-28 campaign, SU coaches will mine the transfer portal after the upcoming season, and the NCAA's new 5-for-5 eligibility model does add a layer of complexity to the Orange's roster construction moving forward.
