5-star guard, who will play with Syracuse 5-star priority target, includes 'Cuse in his top 10

King Gibson from Greensboro, N.C., a 2027 five-star combo guard who was offered by Syracuse basketball in the spring, has dropped a top 10 that includes the Orange.

Dushawn London, a national analyst at 247Sports, reports that the top 10 of the 6-foot-6, 185-pound Gibson consists of the 'Cuse, Alabama, Arkansas, Baylor, Connecticut, Illinois, Louisville, LSU, national champion Michigan and Providence.

According to national analyst Sam Kayser, Gibson has set upcoming official visits to five of these suitors: Arkansas, Baylor, Louisville, LSU and UConn. The Orange is in play to potentially also land an official visit from Gibson, Inside the Loud House is told.

The new Syracuse basketball staff under first-year head coach Gerry McNamara offered a scholarship to Gibson in mid-May of this year, he noted on social media. He had received interest from SU prior to then, though; after the contact period for the 2027 class opened on June 15, 2025, Gibson heard from the former Orange staff under then-head coach Adrian Autry.

Gibson is heading into his senior year at the powerhouse Spire Academy in Geneva, Ohio, which went 29-5 overall during the 2025-26 campaign and earned a bid to the season-ending Chipotle Nationals in Fishers, Ind.

Spire's head coach is the legendary Kevin Boyle, who previously won a couple of high school national titles at the Montverde Academy in Montverde, Fla. As Inside the Loud House reported earlier on Thursday, Spire is among a group of significant contenders to capture a high school national championship at the end of the 2026-27 season, according to experts.

In 2025-26, Gibson was named to the MaxPreps junior All-America first team. In the upcoming campaign, Spire once again has a loaded roster. On Wednesday, word broke that Syracuse basketball 2027 priority target Moussa Kamissoko, a five-star wing/small forward, had transferred to Spire from Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, N.Y.

The 6-foot-8, 180-pound Kamissoko is expected to take an official visit to the Orange from September 3 to September 4. Another transfer to Spire for 2026-27 is Rochester, N.Y., native David Johnson, a 2029 five-star wing whose first scholarship offer was from the 'Cuse in late August of last year.

This spring and summer in grassroots hoops, Gibson competed for the 17U team of the Charlotte, N.C.-based Team United in Nike's EYBL league. He averaged 16.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game while connecting on 45.3 percent from the field, 39.4 percent from beyond the arc and 73.1 percent from the free-throw line.

Within the 2027 class, Gibson's highest national ranking comes from Rivals, which has him as the No. 5 overall player and the No. 1 combo guard.

Regarding other high school seniors whom the Orange is pursuing, five-star wing/forward Ahmed Nur of CIA Bella Vista in Phoenix began his official visit to SU on Wednesday. Kamissoko takes his official visit next week.

Nasir Anderson, a 2027 five-star point guard and a top-10 national prospect in this class, recently included the 'Cuse in his top 10. Syracuse basketball coaches are working to get the elite floor general at Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to the Hill for an official visit at some point.
