4-star PG puts Syracuse basketball in top 7, plans to visit SU before making decision

Devin Cleveland, a four-star point guard and a top-30 national prospect in the 2027 class, is down to seven schools, including Syracuse basketball, according to national recruiting analysts.

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound Cleveland, who hails from Chicago, has a top seven of Alabama, Arkansas, Marquette, national champion Michigan, Missouri, Syracuse and TCU, per reports from national analyst Sam Kayser and others. The Orange offered a scholarship to Cleveland earlier in July.

Cleveland, a top-six point guard/shooting guard in the high school senior class, has unofficially visited Marquette and Michigan in the past. He has an official visit to Missouri scheduled for early October.

Cleveland tells analysts that he plans to take official visits to all his finalists, including the 'Cuse, before making a college decision. He's eyeing a commitment announcement in late December or early January.

SU assistant coach Ryan Daly is Cleveland's lead recruiter. The floor general says he's developing a strong relationship with the new Orange staff under first-year head coach Gerry McNamara, and Cleveland will be watching to see how the 'Cuse fares in the upcoming 2026-27 season.

Syracuse basketball is in the mix for 2027 four-star point guard Devin Cleveland.

Cleveland, in 2026-27, will be a senior at the La Lumiere School in La Porte, Ind., which is part of the 15-team Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Scholastic ("EYBL Scholastic"). Several 'Cuse four-star and five-star targets in the 2027 and 2028 cycles play for programs in the EYBL Scholastic.

In 2025-26, as a junior, Cleveland averaged 15.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals per contest for La Lumiere (22-5 overall) in EYBL Scholastic competition. As a sophomore, he was a MaxPreps second-team All-American in the 2027 class while starring at Kenwood Academy High School in Chicago.

This spring and summer on Nike's EYBL circuit, Cleveland was a standout for the 17U team of the St. Louis-based Bradley Beal Elite. For the entire EYBL season, which wrapped up earlier this month, he averaged 16.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game while connecting on 42.9 percent from the field, 29.6 percent from beyond the arc and 81.0 percent from the free-throw line.

A few days ago, 2027 four-star wing/small forward Carson Crawford named a top five of Syracuse, Arizona State, Ole Miss, Florida State and Providence. The 6-foot-7, 180-pound Crawford, who is from Florida, plans to take an official visit to Syracuse at some point this fall, Inside the Loud House has reported.

The Orange's 2027 priority recruits include five-star point guard Nasir Anderson, four-star power forward Ian Condon, five-star wing/small forward Moussa Kamissoko, four-star point guard J'Lon Lyons and five-star wing/forward Ahmed Nur. Condon, Lyons and Nur have set upcoming official visits to the 'Cuse.
