On Saturday, as Syracuse basketball hosted and unfortunately lost to non-conference foe Georgetown at the JMA Wireless Dome, there were reportedly a lot of Syracuse football players and recruits in the house, as well as some 'Cuse coaches.
Based on social media posts and other reports, high school prospects across several recruiting cycles were visiting the Orange program on Saturday, along with some college transfers. I had already noted a couple of these recruiting targets who were expected in Central New York this weekend, but additional posts on social media provided more insights into the extent of the Syracuse football visitor list on Saturday.
One visitor on Saturday, per his Instagram story, was Virginia sophomore quarterback Anthony Colandrea. The four-star transfer prospect, according to a recent report from On3, was eyeing a visit to Syracuse football "sometime next week," but Colandrea's Instagram page confirmed he was on the Hill this weekend.
Also in Central New York has been Liberty redshirt junior quarterback Kaidon Salter, a four-star transfer prospect, according to his Instagram story and X page. Salter is reportedly also going to make a trip early next week to Big 12 Conference school Colorado and its ace recruiter, head coach Deion Sanders.
Central Connecticut junior offensive tackle Rahtrel Perry, a three-star transfer prospect, also took a visit to Syracuse football on Saturday. According to a post from the X account of Otto's Army, signs were made welcoming Salter and Perry to the Dome and the Hill this weekend.
Another four-star quarterback was on hand Saturday visiting Syracuse football.
Per his X account, it also appears that 2026 four-star quarterback Gavin SidwarΒ took in the Syracuse basketball home game against Georgetown on Saturday. Sidwar had been verbally committed to Big Ten Conference member Rutgers but reopened his recruitment in late October.
As I detailed in a mid-November story, Sidwar put forth a fabulous junior season for La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor, Pa. The top-200 national prospect, according to On3, received a scholarship offer from 'Cuse first-year head coach Fran Brown and his top-flight staff on January 24 of this year.
In early November of this year, when Syracuse football mounted a comeback to beat Virginia Tech, 38-31 in overtime at the Dome, Sidwar was also in attendance. Given that he has visited the Orange twice over the past two months, my assumption is that Sidwar is a priority recruit for Syracuse football coaches in the 2026 cycle.
Even though 'Cuse hoops fell to the Hoyas on Saturday, you can feel the buzz surrounding the Syracuse football program, as it prepares to play Pac-12 Conference member Washington State (8-4) at the Holiday Bowl on December 27 in San Diego.
The Orange finished the 2024 regular season at 9-3 and conquered three ranked foes. The 'Cuse is No. 21 nationally in the latest College Football Playoff top 25, Syracuse football has signed the largest 2025 class around the country at the high school level, and the Orange likely has some exciting developments on the horizon in other prep cycles and via the transfer portal.
