4-star QB Gavin Sidwar, who visited Syracuse football, throws for superb junior season
By Neil Adler
Syracuse football recruit Gavin Sidwar just completed an excellent junior season for his high school program in Pennsylvania.
The four-star quarterback and top-200 national prospect in the 2026 class recently visited the Orange. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Sidwar said via his X page on October 27 that he was de-committing from Big Ten Conference member Rutgers and reopening his recruiting process.
In the wake of that de-commitment, several national analysts noted that Syracuse football was among the schools showing an interest in Sidwar.
He is a standout at La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor, Pa., which is near Philadelphia. According to a post on his X page, in the recently completed 2024 campaign, Sidwar said that he completed around 69 percent of his pass attempts for 2,747 yards and 31 touchdowns, with just six interceptions.
His stellar junior stanza comes after Sidwar completed 65.2 percent of his passes for 2,439 yards and 29 touchdowns as a sophomore during the 2023 season for La Salle, according to recruiting services.
Syracuse football target Gavin Sidwar, a four-star quarterback, was fabulous as a junior.
In the recent 2024 season, La Salle went 10-1 overall. MaxPreps, at the time of this writing, ranked the Explorers at No. 41 nationally and No. 1 in Pennsylvania. La Salle is also the same program of 2025 three-star wide receiver Julian McFadden, who verbally committed to the Orange this past April.
Earlier this month, when Syracuse football stormed back to knock off Virginia Tech, 38-31 in overtime, at the JMA Wireless Dome, both McFadden and Sidwar were in attendance at that thrilling Atlantic Coast Conference clash as they visited the Orange.
Sidwar said on X that he picked up a scholarship offer from the 'Cuse staff, led by first-year head coach Fran Brown, on January 24 of this year. He verbally pledged to Rutgers on July 1.
When recruiting service and media outlet On3 updated its 2026 rankings not too long ago, Sidwar was a big mover in this refresh, as noted by On3's director of scouting and rankings, Charles Power.
Currently, On3 has Sidwar, within the junior cycle, at No. 191 overall, No. 15 at quarterback and No. 5 in Pennsylvania.
At the time of this writing, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite placed Sidwar at No. 398 nationally, No. 26 at quarterback and No. 11 in Pennsylvania. Over at the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking, he was No. 414 overall, No. 29 at quarterback and No. 14 in Pennsylvania.
