Rayshawn Duncan Jr., a talented running back from Ohio who received an offer from the Orange last month, will visit Syracuse football in early March, according to a recruiting service.

The 5-foot-8, 195-pound Duncan, a four-star athlete/running back in the 2027 class, is a sophomore at Bedford High School in Bedford, Ohio, near Cleveland.

Per his bio on the Rivals.com, Duncan plans to visit the 'Cuse on March 3, along with other near-term visits to Kentucky, Georgia and Florida State.

According to recruiting Web sites, while it's early on in his recruiting process, Duncan already has amassed more than 20 offers from schools such as Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Memphis, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Purdue, TCU, Utah and West Virginia.

The Syracuse football staff, led by head coach Fran Brown, offered a scholarship to Duncan on January 4 of this year. Based on a couple of recent interviews, it does seem that Duncan is high on the Orange at this juncture in his recruitment.

Four-star RB Rayshawn Duncan Jr. will visit Syracuse football next month.

In the latest 2027 rankings from Rivals.com, Duncan checks in as four stars, No. 241 nationwide, No. 19 at running back and No. 7 in Ohio.

As I noted in another recent piece, 2026 three-star edge/outside linebacker Kamron Wilson of Miami Southridge Senior High School plans to officially visit the Orange on June 13, according to Rivals.com national analyst John Garcia Jr.

To date, the 'Cuse coaching staff has secured at least two verbal pledges among high school sophomores while remaining in pursuit of numerous three-star and four-star targets in the 2027 class.

Syracuse football's verbal commitments in the 2027 cycle are three-star quarterback Justin Dixon of the Concordia Preparatory School in Towson, Md., and athlete Tank White of Cocoa High School in Cocoa, Fla.

Dixon verbally pledged to the 'Cuse in late November of last year, while White became the Orange's first verbal commitment in this class, giving his pledge to Syracuse football in early June of 2024.

Brown and his top-flight staff have done terrific jobs with their recruiting efforts in 2024, 2025, 2026 and even 2027, although it's early on with the sophomore cycle. Still, following the team's 10-3 record and No. 20 national ranking in the most recent season, the buzz on the Hill is palpable, and recruits are eager to visit Central New York and learn more about the 'Cuse program.
