This week, 2027 athlete Charles Woodson Jr., the son of a football legend, picked up his first scholarship offer from a power-four conference team, and that squad is Syracuse football.

The 5-foot-11, 155-pound Woodson is a sophomore at Lake Nona High School in Orlando, Fla. He says on his X page that he suits up at both safety and wide receiver.

You may have heard of his dad, defensive back Charles Woodson, who won a national championship and the Heisman Trophy while at Big Ten Conference member Michigan. He went on to a fabulous NFL career, capturing a Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers. The elder Woodson is enshrined in both the College Football and Pro Football Halls of Fame.

Meanwhile, his son, Charles Woodson Jr., disclosed on January 22 that he had landed an offer from the Orange staff, led by ace recruiter and first-year head coach Fran Brown, who guided the 'Cuse to a 10-3 record in the 2024 season and a No. 20 national ranking in the final Associated Press top-25 poll.

According to his X account, Woodson also holds an offer from Delaware. National analysts and scouts say that more scholarship offers will arrive for Woodson as his recruiting process carries onward. By the way, his bio on the 247Sports Web site notes that Michigan is showing an interest in Woodson, and that's not at all a surprise.

This week, On3 vice president of national college football recruiting and the transfer portal Steve Wiltfong wrote an interesting piece on Woodson, detailing his sophomore season at Lake Nona.

His head coach there, David Aubrey, said to Wiltfong that "Charles embodies the qualities every coach looks for in a standout player. Natural talent, strong work ethic, and leadership skills."

Love that.

Regarding his scholarship offer from the Orange, Woodson told On3, "It is very exciting getting an offer from Syracuse a P4 school. And it feels crazy that they offered me. Looking at the season they just had it’s crazy. What excites me the most is just hearing about their culture and the way they do things there."

Love that, too.

To date, the 'Cuse has two verbal pledges in its 2027 class. They are from Tank White, a 6-foot, 180-pound wide receiver/defensive back with Cocoa High School in Cocoa, Fla., and Justin Dixon, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound quarterback out of the Concordia Preparatory School in Towson, Md.

Syracuse football coaches have also offered, or are displaying an interest in, numerous other high school sophomores, one of which is 2027 athlete/wide receiver Donovan McNabb Jr., who attends Brophy College Preparatory in Phoenix and is the son of legendary former Orange quarterback Donovan McNabb.
