This weekend, the Syracuse basketball staff has been out and about during a live period where prospects compete for their high school programs, rather than on the AAU circuits.
From June 12 to June 14, and against two weeks later from June 26 to June 28, college coaches, including the Orange staff, will be watching high school recruiting targets amid these two scholastic live periods.
Two well-known events on the East Coast during these scholastic live periods are Philly Live and DMV Live. According to an Instagram story post, this weekend, 'Cuse assistant coach Ryan Daly has been at Philly Live. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the SU staff has also been in for high school recruits at DMV Live.
From June 10 to June 11, during another recent live period, Syracuse basketball head coach Gerry McNamara and several assistants were checking in on four-star and five-star targets across the 2027 and 2028 classes at the annual National Basketball Players Association ("NBPA") Top 100 Camp in Rock Hill, S.C.
Syracuse basketball coaches are ramping up their high school recruiting.
At Philly Live, some of the programs participating that have been recruited by the Orange in recent years include Archbishop Wood High School in Warminster, Pa., Archbishop Ryan High School in Philadelphia, the Imhotep Institute Charter High School in Philadelphia, St. John's College High School in Washington, D.C., and Neumann Goretti High School in Philadelphia, among others.
Zaahir Muhammad-Gray is one prospect to monitor. The 2027 four-star wing balled out this weekend for Imhotep at Philly Live, and he also held a scholarship offer from the former Syracuse basketball staff under then-head coach Adrian Autry. It's not uncommon, by the way, for a college squad's new staff to re-offer high school prospects who held offers from that college team's former coaching staff.
Several other players who held offers from the former Orange coaching staff, and participated in Philly Live this weekend, include 2028 four-star small forward Will Brunson of the Rutgers Preparatory School in Somerset, N.J., who unofficially visited SU last December, 2028 four-star wing Rezon Harris Jr. of Father Judge High School in Philadelphia, 2028 four-star center Toussaint Malukila of Paul VI High School in Haddonfield, N.J., and 2028 guard Nico Antoniacci of Riverside Junior/Senior High School in Taylor, Pa.

DMV Live, year after year, features many top high school programs from the talent-rich Baltimore to Washington, D.C., corridor and beyond. Two Orange recruits who have played at this spring's DMV Live are 2027 four-star shooting guard RJ Moore out of the Ambassador Christian School in Huntersville, N.C., and 2027 four-star point guard J'Lon Lyons out of the Clinton Grace Christian School in Clinton, Md.
The new 'Cuse staff offered Moore in late April, while Lyons held an offer from the former Syracuse basketball coaching staff and recently said he plans to take an official visit to the Hill at some point.
Other players at DMV Live that Orange hoops fanatics may want to keep an eye on include 2028 four-star power forward Braxton Bogard and 2028 four-star forward Nash Avery, who both suit up for Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, Md., 2028 four-star guard Carter Smith of the William Penn Charter School in Philadelphia and 2028 point guard Nolyn Proudfoot out of Corning-Painted Post High School in Corning, N.Y.

It's also possible that the SU staff has been in attendance this weekend at the Mid-Atlantic Independent School Team Camp in Allentown, Pa., where teams such as the Blair Academy from Blairstown, N.J., have been playing.
Ian Archbold, a 2028 four-star guard at Blair, was offered by the Orange during the Autry era. Kamari Whyte, a 2027 four-star shooting guard out of Blair, is receiving interest from the new Syracuse basketball staff.
As more SU offers and interest arrive soon for high school prospects in the 2027 and 2028 classes, I'll have more details on Inside the Loud House in the coming weeks and months.
