When Syracuse basketball landed a verbal pledge from 2027 five-star wing/small forward and Bronx, N.Y., native Moussa Kamissoko a week ago, attention for the Orange staff turned to 2027 four-star wing/forward Ahmed Nur as it pertains to SU's remaining targets in this class.
However, there is positional overlap between the 6-foot-9, 190-pound Nur and the 6-foot-8, 180-pound Kamissoko. Plus, the Orange has a verbal commitment from another 2027 wing, three-star prospect and Albany, N.Y., native Jack Donohue, who is a senior at The Newman School in Boston.
Great stuff from @JamieShaw5 on 2027 4-star wing/forward and top-30 national prospect Ahmed Nur (@BABYSL1MM) of CIA @BellaVistaHoops and @2027Power5. Nur took an official visit to Syracuse basketball in late August. ๐งก๐ฝ https://t.co/wDm8CoroBe

Kamissoko pledging to the 'Cuse last Friday, realistically, has likely made it more challenging for Syracuse basketball coaches to prevail for Nur, who will spend his upcoming senior season at CIA Bella Vista in Phoenix, which won the high school national championship in the 2025-26 campaign.
Nur took an official visit to the Hill in late August. Inside the Loud House has reported that his trip to Central New York went well. As the fall recruiting period opened on September 9, SU assistant coach Ben Lee was also in for Nur during at least one open gym at CIA Bella Vista.
Syracuse basketball appears to be a long shot at this point for 4-star senior Ahmed Nur.
Nur has taken official visits to the Orange, along with Florida State, Ole Miss, SMU and Purdue. At this juncture, per several national analysts, two teams that seem to be well positioned in his recruitment are Florida State and Ole Miss. Inside the Loud House isn't aware of any sort of commitment announcement timeline for Nur.
In the upcoming 2026-27 campaign, Nur will also suit up alongside various other CIA Bella Vista players for the City Reapers in the Atlanta-based league Overtime Elite ("OTE"). Earlier this week, OTE held its annual Pro Day. I'm told that the 'Cuse staff was not on hand at this OTE combine.
One thing that I continue to stress regarding Syracuse basketball's 2027 class at the high school level is that the Orange's current roster is at the maximum of 15 players, and due to the NCAA's new 5-for-5 eligibility model, all of them can technically return for another season after 2026-27.
Combine that with the fact that the 'Cuse already has two wings in its 2027 prep cycle, and it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise if Syracuse basketball ultimately doesn't prevail for Nur, who is a top-30 national prospect in the senior cycle.
