Former Syracuse basketball Hall of Fame head coach Jim Boeheim will remain special assistant to the 'Cuse director of athletics for "one more year," he told Syracuse.com's Donna Ditota.

That's great to hear. Boeheim has been in that role since March of 2023, following his retirement as SU's men's basketball head coach after a remarkable 47 seasons. In December of 2023, he joined ESPN as a game/studio analyst for both ESPN and the ACC Network.

Boeheim's replacement as the Orange's head coach was former 'Cuse player and assistant Adrian Autry, who led the program for three seasons. This past March, after SU finished at 15-17 overall, Autry was let go, and another former Syracuse basketball player during the Boeheim era, Gerry McNamara, was named the Orange's next head coach.

Beyond GMac's hiring, it's been a busy spring on the Hill. Also last month, J. Michael Haynie was appointed the new chancellor of Syracuse University, while Toledo athletics director Bryan Blair is replacing John Wildhack as the new athletics director at SU.

Other changes in the Syracuse Orange athletics department.

A few days ago, Mike Waters of Syracuse.com first reported that two senior members of the Orange athletics department were moving on from their positions. They are Torrey Ball, the deputy athletics director for business development, and Kirsten Elleby, a deputy athletics director and senior woman administrator.

Ball played defensive end at Syracuse football from 2009 to 2011. It's not clear why these changes in the 'Cuse athletics department were made.

Earlier this month, SU basketball assistant coach and director of operations Peter Corasaniti was named to a newly created role of associate athletics director of men's basketball and operations at Syracuse University.

Corasaniti's replacement as Syracuse basketball director of operations is Ryan Beaury, an SU alum who most recently was the director of operations at Siena. McNamara turned that program around over the past two seasons, and he's brought over several former Siena assistants, including Beaury, to his new staff with the Orange.

Another scoop from Waters this week is that Syracuse basketball is expected to hire Greg Fahey as the team's general manager. He would replace former GM Alex Kline. Currently, Fahey is the associate head coach and general manager of Coastal Athletic Association member Hampton.
