Peter Corasaniti, a longtime member of the Syracuse basketball staff, is headed to a new role within SU Athletics, it was announced on Tuesday.

Corasaniti, an SU alum, has been named associate athletics director of men's basketball and operations at Syracuse University. This is a new position, a Syracuse basketball spokesperson told me on Tuesday. A huge congrats to Peter, who is just an all-around good guy!

In this new position, per a release from SU Athletics, Corasaniti "will provide executive oversight of all administrative and operational functions. He will lead, mentor, and develop key program staff, including the director of basketball operations, director of player personnel, director of engagement (alumni and donors), and administrative assistant to the head coach."

As I noted in a separate article last week, there had been a job posting for the Syracuse men's basketball director of operations on sujobopps.com, although that posting is no longer there. That leads me to believe that, perhaps, a new director of operations has been hired. Stay tuned on that.

Peter Corasaniti is in a new position with SU Athletics.

More on Corasaniti's new role from the media statement: He "will ensure adherence to institutional, ACC, and NCAA regulations and serve as a strategic partner to the head coach in shaping priorities and advancing the long-term vision of the program. He will support and help facilitate revenue-sharing and related contractual frameworks."

Corasaniti earned his undergraduate degree from SU in 2014 and his master's degree two years later, in 2016. During his undergrad years, Corasaniti was a student manager of the Syracuse men's basketball team for four years.

In 2019, Corasaniti joined Jim Boeheim's staff as director of operations and remained in that role when Adrian Autry took over as SU's head coach. This past season, Corasaniti was also an assistant coach of the Orange program.

Last month, Autry was let go, and Siena boss Gerry McNamara was hired as Syracuse basketball's head coach. McNamara's assistant coaches, so far, include Arinze Onuaku and Ben Lee from Siena; Ryan Daly from VCU; and Jamal Brunt, who most recently was the associate head coach at Penn State.

The 'Cuse can have up to five assistant coaches, and the chatter is that former Siena assistant Ryan Blackwell is expected to be named in that role. Nothing has officially come from SU Athletics yet regarding Blackwell.
