Moussa Kamissoko, a 2027 five-star wing/small forward, held a scholarship offer from the former Syracuse basketball staff under then-head coach Adrian Autry, which he scored in late December of 2024.

Fast-forward to the present, and Orange first-year head coach Gerry McNamara and his assistants are reportedly making a big-time push for the 6-foot-8 Kamissoko, according to recruiting analysts.

Within the 2027 class, Kamissoko is ranked as high as No. 8 nationally by Rivals. Both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking place him in the top 20 overall of this cycle.

Per recruiting services, Kamissoko's full scholarship offer sheet includes schools such as Oklahoma State, Virginia (Autry is now an assistant coach there), Providence, Illinois, Kentucky, Alabama, Cincinnati, Penn State, Villanova, BYU, Louisville, N.C. State and UConn, among others.

Syracuse basketball faces steep competition for 2027 5-star wing/SF Moussa Kamissoko.

Kamissoko is a standout rising senior at Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, N.Y., which is a member of the 15-team Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Scholastic ("EYBL Scholastic"). Orange sophomore shooting guard Kiyan Anthony was a teammate of Kamissoko at Long Island Lutheran before he joined the 'Cuse.

According to some analysts, Louisville appears to be a significant contender for Kamissoko. Others that are trying to gain momentum with him include the 'Cuse, Oklahoma State, Virginia, Kentucky, UConn and Illinois, I'm told.

What will be key in Kamissoko's recruiting process coming up is which programs he decides to officially visit. I'm not aware of any official visits that he's scheduled (or that are at least out there in the public domain). The new Orange staff will need to get him on campus for a visit if 'Cuse coaches realistically want to prevail for this top-flight rising senior.

On Nike's EYBL circuit during the current AAU season, Kamissoko is playing for the 17U team of the Bronx, N.Y.-based PSA Cardinals. He's averaging 17.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.4 steals per game while connecting on 52.5 percent from the field, 38.7 percent from beyond the arc and 68.6 percent from the free-throw line.

One of his PSA Cardinals teammates in the 17U division is 2028 three-star wing Enmanuel Valera Melo out of The Phelps School in Malvern, Pa. Since the 2028 contact period opened on June 15, the 'Cuse coaching staff has been in touch with Valera Melo.

Twice this month, there will be NCAA-permitted live periods on the EYBL circuit, including one later this week from July 9 to July 12. Let's see if McNamara and his assistants are in for Kamissoko and Valera Melo.
