Syracuse basketball coaches have a big visitor in the 2027 class heading to the Hill this weekend.
Literally.
Theo Edema, a fast-rising 2027 four-star big man, is taking an official visit to the Orange program this weekend, a source confirmed to me on Friday. Syracuse football, by the way, hosts Colgate on Friday evening, so hopefully, Edema will be in attendance for that non-conference game at the JMA Wireless Dome.
The 7-foot Edema disclosed a scholarship offer from the 'Cuse staff in late June. It appears that he's emerging as a priority target for the Orange in this class. Syracuse basketball coaches reached out to him directly after the 2027 contact period opened on June 15; the 'Cuse was in for him last week as the fall recruiting period got underway; and now Edema is officially visiting Syracuse basketball.
After a great conversation with Coach Adrian Autry, I am blessed 😇 to receive an offer from Syracuse University! 🔥 @CushingBBball @TNEBBallClub pic.twitter.com/y1MzvOcoa6

To date, at least 15 prospects in the 2027 cycle have picked up a scholarship offer from the Orange program.

Syracuse basketball is hosting a big man on an official visit this weekend.
Edema is a junior at the Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Mass. In the 2024-25 season, as a sophomore, he landed an honorable mention nod for the All-New England Basketball League ("NEBL") teams. He plays for the Boston-based Team New England Basketball Club in grassroots hoops.
S/O to @Cuse_MBB for coming to see the big fellas @Theophilousedem today.

A lot of recruitment is about building authentic relationships with prospects. @CoachRedAutry & staff are building something special 🙌🏾
Official visit next week👀#OrangeStandard #CuseNation pic.twitter.com/GLIkOJO0Ca
Beyond the Orange, Edema's full scholarship offer sheet includes schools such as Auburn, Maryland, Providence, Tennessee, Oklahoma State, Villanova, Alabama, Kansas, Georgetown, Stanford, Clemson and California.
Within the 2027 class, Rivals has Edema at No. 35 nationally, No. 4 at center and No. 1 in Massachusetts. The industry-generated 247Sports Composite, on Friday, placed him at No. 43 overall, No. 7 at center and No. 1 in Massachusetts.
Syracuse basketball coaches are busy welcoming recruits to campus these days. Edema is officially visiting this weekend. In recent weeks, 2027 five-star power forward Zion Green unofficially visited the Orange, while 2026 four-star shooting guard Dakari Spear took an official visit to the team.
Later this month, both 2026 five-star point guard Deron Rippey Jr. and 2026 four-star wing/small forward Vaughn Karvala will officially visit Syracuse basketball. In October, 2026 four-star big man Asher Elson and 2026 four-star small forward Ralph Scott have set official visits to the 'Cuse.
In the 2026 class, I also expect that five-star shooting guard Jordan Smith Jr. will unofficially or officially visit the Orange at some point, among other targets in the senior cycle. In 2027, I anticipate that four-star point guard J'Lon Lyons, among others, will visit Syracuse basketball in the future.
