Two four-star prospects in the 2027 cycle are expected to visit Syracuse basketball, according to reports and social media posts.
Per a post on X from the Team New England Basketball Club, it looks like 2027 four-star center Theo Edema is eyeing an official visit to the Orange "next week." In a recent article by my guy Zach Smart on zagsblog.com, when asked about potential upcoming visit destinations, 2027 four-star point guard J'Lon Lyons said in part, "Syracuse, for sure."

Both the 7-foot Edema and the 6-foot-3 Lyons are fast-rising players in the high school junior class. Each prospect picked up a scholarship offer from the 'Cuse coaching staff in late June. On June 15, Syracuse basketball coaches could begin initiating direct communication with 2027 players, and in total, the Orange has offered a scholarship to at least 15 prospects in this cycle, whom I'm aware of, with more likely to come.
On September 3, the fall recruiting period opened up. The 'Cuse staff will be on the road, hitting open gyms and conducting in-home visits with key targets, while also welcoming some 2026 and 2027 players to the Hill on unofficial or official visits.

To that end, this week, the Orange staff has been in for both Edema and Lyons at their respective high school programs.

Four-star juniors are eyeing visits to Syracuse basketball soon.
Lyons is a standout at the Clinton Grace Christian School in Clinton, Md., which is part of the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, a hotbed of high school basketball talent and a key recruiting market for the Orange. Lyons is forging a strong relationship with Syracuse basketball assistant coach Brenden Straughn, who has deep ties to the DMV.
Named to the All-Metro Private School Conference ("MPSC") first team as a sophomore, Lyons' full offer sheet includes schools such as Indiana, George Mason, Georgetown, Mississippi State, Providence, Seton Hall, Florida State, Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech, VCU, Villanova, Texas A&M and Morehead State. Rivals has him at No. 43 nationally and No. 8 at point guard in the 2027 class.
Edema, meanwhile, is a junior at the Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Mass. In the 2024-25 season, as a sophomore, he landed an honorable mention nod for the All-New England Basketball League ("NEBL") teams.
To date, Edema's offer list features teams such as Maryland, Providence, Tennessee, Oklahoma State, Villanova, Alabama, Kansas, Georgetown, Stanford, Clemson and California. His highest 2027 rankings come courtesy of Rivals, which places Edema at No. 35 overall and No. 4 at center.
