A four-star wide receiver in the high school junior class and a three-star transfer wide receiver who is originally from New York state are scheduled to visit Syracuse football this weekend amid the Orange's spring game on Saturday, April 20, according to social media posts and media reports.

These two expected visitors are Daylyn Upshaw, a top-400 national prospect in the 2025 class, and Colorado State sophomore Justus Ross-Simmons, who has entered the transfer portal and is from Rochester, N.Y.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Upshaw, out of Central High School in Phenix City, Ala., disclosed his upcoming visit to the 'Cuse via his X page. It's unclear to me, based on a review of various recruiting Web sites, whether he holds a scholarship offer from the Orange.

ESPN senior writer Pete Thamel noted on X that the 6-foot-3, 205-pound Ross-Simmons plans to visit Syracuse football this weekend. Per Thamel's social media post, Ross-Simmons owns scholarship offers from the 'Cuse, Vanderbilt, USF, Liberty, Coastal Carolina and Georgia State. Ross-Simmons has two seasons of collegiate eligibility left.

By the way, the latest transfer-portal window in FBS football opened on April 16 and runs until April 30, according to reports.

Syracuse football is hosting two talented wide receivers on visits this weekend.

Per a post on his X page, in the 2023 season as a junior, Upshaw hauled in 59 passes for 1,185 yards and 15 touchdowns.

According to recruiting services, he has amassed more than 20 scholarship offers throughout his recruitment from schools such as Arkansas, Kentucky, UCF, Auburn, Cincinnati, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Houston, Kansas, Miami, Missouri, Ole Miss, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas and West Virginia, among others.

Within the 2025 cycle, the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking places Upshaw as four stars, No. 347 overall, No. 53 at wide receiver and No. 17 in Alabama.

In the 2023 campaign for Mountain West Conference member Colorado State, which went 5-7 overall, Ross-Simmons caught 45 passes for 724 yards and three scores through the air, per ESPN data. This past term, he received an All-Mountain West honorable-mention nod.

Ross-Simmons was a three-star prospect in the 2022 cycle who starred for Inglewood High School in Inglewood, Calif. On Wednesday when I wrote this column, in its national transfer ratings, the On3 Industry Ranking had Ross-Simmons as three stars, No. 500 nationally and No. 84 at wide receiver.

On Tuesday morning as the transfer portal opened for business, Syracuse football coaches landed a pledge from Notre Dame senior cornerback Clarence Lewis, a three-star transfer prospect who is from Edison, N.J.
