On Wednesday night, Syracuse football further bolstered its offensive line ahead of the 2024 season when Codie Hornsby, a transfer from Grambling State, said via his X page that he would commit to the Orange.

First and foremost, a huge congrats and welcome from 'Cuse Nation to Codie!

The 6-foot-3, 315-pound Hornsby, who is from Dallas, says that he has two years of collegiate eligibility remaining. In the 2023 season, he was a sophomore at Grambling State, which is located in Grambling, La.

Before that, he was committed to Delaware State, which is located in Dover, Del.

According to the X account First Class Prospects, on March 6, Hornsby met with Syracuse football coaches on Zoom. Roughly a week later, he has committed to the Orange, which is fabulous.

Syracuse football has landed a commitment from offensive lineman Codie Hornsby.

On February 27, Hornsby said on his X page that he was entering the transfer portal. Per a separate post on X from First Class Prospects, after entering the portal, more than 30 college squads had reached out to Hornsby.

As a member of the 2020 high school recruiting class, Hornsby was a standout at Skyline High School in Dallas. According to his bio on the Grambling State athletics department Web site, as a senior in 2019, Hornsby helped guide Skyline to a district championship.

In his senior season of high school, he was credited with 40 pancake blocks. He recorded 48 tackles and eight sacks.

After he had a Zoom with the Orange coaching staff, Hornsby said in an interview with recruiting analyst Charles Kang of The Juice Online that Syracuse "has always been my dream school," per a post on X.

The 'Cuse staff, led by ace recruiter and head coach Fran Brown, has done a tremendous job with its recruiting efforts out of the portal this off-season. National and Atlantic Coast Conference pundits have praised Brown and his assistants for hauling in a 2024 transfer class that is ranked in the top 25 nationally, according to the 247Sports Web site.

Regarding college transfers who play on the offensive line and have pledged to the Orange this off-season, besides Hornsby, they include three-star Da’Metrius Weatherspoon, a redshirt sophomore from Howard, and three-star Joshua Miller, a freshman from Georgia.

Before officially taking over the 'Cuse program in early December of last year, Brown most recently served as the defensive backs coach with the Bulldogs.
