Syracuse football coaches continue to bolster their offensive line for the 2024 season and beyond.

The Orange, this week, picked up a commitment from Da’Metrius Weatherspoon, a redshirt sophomore at Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (“MEAC”) member Howard who entered the transfer portal on December 21. He revealed his pledge to the 'Cuse via his X page.

Since entering the portal, Weatherspoon reported scholarship offers from fellow Atlantic Coast Conference school Pittsburgh as well as the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

The 6-foot-7, 335-pound Weatherspoon, an offensive tackle, on December 11 was one of three Bison who were named to the 2023 HBCU All-America team.

In a release from Howard, it was noted that Weatherspoon also earned a spot on the All-MEAC first squad after helping guide a Bison offense that led its conference with nearly 384 total yards per game and averaged 28.5 points per contest on offense.

Howard, which is based in Washington, D.C., is a Football Championship Subdivision (“FCS”) program that went 6-6 during the 2023 season.

Syracuse football has beefed up its offensive line with Da’Metrius Weatherspoon.

Weatherspoon was a member of the 2021 recruiting cycle who attended Clairton High School in Clairton, Pa., which is located within the Pittsburgh metropolitan area.

According to a report from SyracuseOnSI publisher Mike McAllister, Weatherspoon was expected to take an official visit to the Hill this week. He should have two years of collegiate eligibility left.

So far this off-season, head coach Fran Brown and his staff have landed commitments from at least 10 college transfers.

They include another offensive lineman, three-star Georgia freshman Joshua Miller, who hails from Chesterfield, Va., and is expected to have four years of collegiate eligibility remaining after taking a redshirt during the 2023 term.

Among the Orange’s high school senior commits in the team’s 2024 cycle are two three-star offensive linemen, Noah Rosahac of Jim Thorpe Area High School in Jim Thorpe, Pa., and Willie Goodacre of John H. Guyer High School in Denton, Texas.

Syracuse football coaches were also pursuing three-star transfer Naquil Betrand, a freshman offensive lineman at Texas A&M who was recruited by the former Orange coaching staff when he was three-star prospect in the 2023 class out of Northeast High School in Philadelphia.

Media reports stated that the 6-foot-6, 340-pound Betrand was eyeing official visits to both the ‘Cuse and Alabama, however, a few days ago, he committed to the Crimson Tide.

Additionally, in December, Syracuse football offered scholarships to a pair of three-star OL transfers, Princeton senior Jalen Travis and Ohio University senior Kurt Danneker.
