Recruiting service and media outlet 247Sports on Wednesday named Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown as its national recruiter of the year for the 2024 cycle.
This wonderful honor for Brown stems from the fabulous job that he did in helping Southeastern Conference powerhouse Georgia to the top-ranked 2024 class. Prior to officially being named as the Orange's new head coach, replacing Dino Babers, in early December of last year, Brown was most recently the defensive backs coach with the Bulldogs.
Make no mistake about it, though. While his No. 1 national recruiter ranking comes from his Georgia days, in the past two months, Brown along with his assistants on the Hill have done a remarkable job hauling in a strong 2024 class for the 'Cuse, one that features numerous four-star high school seniors and college transfers.

In naming Brown as the country's top recruiter in the 2024 cycle, I encourage you to check out this article from Steve Wiltfong, who is the director of recruiting for 247Sports. There are a lot of interesting nuggets in Wiltfong's piece about Brown, who is described as "genuine," "a mentor," and "family."
Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown was named the No. 1 national recruiter in 2024 by 247Sports.
Brown said in part to Wiltfong, "I really, really do enjoy building relationships, and I really enjoy when people understand and know that we have to compete. On the trail, the relationships, man, really just meeting people and developing good relationships with high school coaches or other college coaches — when you get an opportunity to go out and meet with the families you’re developing genuine meaningful relationships and not BS. I’m not going to talk to you if there is not substance behind it. I don’t have time for BS."

When I wrote this article on Wednesday, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rated the Orange's 2024 class at No. 34 overall in the country, No. 39 at the high school level, and No. 23 via the transfer portal.

February 7 marked the start of the traditional signing period, although most of the 'Cuse pledges who are high school seniors officially signed with Syracuse football during the early signing period in December of last year. One commit who did officially sign with the Orange on Wednesday morning was 2024 three-star defensive back/wide receiver Ibn McDaniels, an All-State performer out of Elizabeth High School in Elizabeth, N.J.
In its 2024 national recruiter rankings, 247Sports had another Syracuse football coach, Nick Williams, at No. 26 around the country on Wednesday. Most recently the defensive line coach at Colorado, Williams is the Orange's new defensive ends coach.
