Luke Carney from Texas, a fast-rising four-star quarterback in the 2025 class, has said in several recent interviews that he’s high on Syracuse football, and he plans to visit the Hill later this month, according to media reports.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Carney, who holds a scholarship offer from the Orange and more than two dozen offers in total so far during his recruiting process, was lights out in his junior year for the Dallas Christian School in Mesquite, Texas.

In that most recent 2023 season, Carney won various awards and honors, including the Dave Campbell Texas football private school quarterback of the year, according to his bio on the 247Sports Web site.

Check out these numbers. Per MaxPreps, in 2023, Carney completed 80 percent of his passes for 3,723 yards and 38 touchdowns against just six interceptions. He also carried the ball 78 times for 843 yards and nine more scores on the ground.

Syracuse football will get a visit from 2025 four-star QB Luke Carney.

At this juncture, most recruiting services rate Carney as a three-star player, although Rivals.com has him as four stars and the No. 25 quarterback nationwide in the junior cycle.

Based on his junior season and various comments from national analysts and scouts, I get the sense that Carney is poised to make a big leap in the rankings for his class.

An article from 247Sports director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong notes that Carney helped guide Dallas Christian to a third-straight state title.

Additionally, per Wiltfong, in his high school career to date, Carney has amassed more than 10,000 yards and 112 touchdowns, which is remarkable.

Per his bio on 247Sports, Carney’s full offer sheet includes schools such as Boston College, James Madison, Memphis, Arizona, Arkansas, BYU, California, UConn, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Marshall, Minnesota, San Diego State and USF, among others.

When asked by Wiltfong about the college squads catching his eye these days, Carney said, “I have developed a lot of good relationships over the last six to nine months but I would say Syracuse, Cal, USF, Georgia Tech, James Madison, and BYU.”

Carney has previously visited Georgia Tech and USF. He told 247Sports that he has scheduled visits to BYU on March 4, Cal on March 12 and Syracuse football on March 22.

In a recent post on X, Wiltfong noted that another 2025 quarterback, three-star Cutter Woods of the state champion Westside High School in Anderson, S.C., also plans to take a spring visit the Orange, among other teams.

In early January, 2025 four-star quarterback Malik Washington of Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, Md., included the ‘Cuse in his top six, along with Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, Penn State, Oregon and Maryland.

Later that month, Washington was on the SU campus for an unofficial visit as part of one of the Orange’s junior days.
