Cutter Woods, a state champion in South Carolina as a junior when he proved one of the top quarterbacks around the country, says he’s high on several college squads at this point in his recruitment, including Syracuse football.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Woods, a three-star, nationally ranked prospect in the 2025 class, holds around 15 scholarship offers from a range of high-major programs, according to recruiting services.
Per his X page, on December 13 of last year, Woods landed an offer from the new ‘Cuse coaching staff, led by head coach Fran Brown.
A standout at Westside High School in Anderson, S.C., Woods holds scholarship offers from other suitors such as Auburn, Indiana, East Carolina, James Madison, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech and Liberty, among others.

Woods had some kind of junior year for Westside. According to MaxPreps, in the 2023 season, he completed 69.4 percent of his passes for 3,915 yards and 42 touchdowns, against just eight interceptions. On the ground, Woods rushed for 345 yards and five more scores.
Last term, he helped guide Westside to a 14-1 overall record and the Class AAAA state title in South Carolina, which was the program’s first crown since 1969, per an article from Zack Poff, who is the national football editor at MaxPreps.
For his junior-stanza performances, MaxPreps named Woods its 2023 player of the year in South Carolina.
As it pertains to 2025 rankings, Rivals.com has Woods as the No. 30 quarterback and the No. 6 prospect in his state.
When I wrote this story, both industry-generated rating systems, the 247Sports Composite and the On3 Industry Ranking, placed Woods in the top 550 nationally, the top 40 at QB, and the top 10 in South Carolina.
In late January, Syracuse football associate head coach for offense/quarterbacks coach Nunzio Campanile made a visit to meet with Woods, according to the 2025 player’s X account.
In a recent interview with 247Sports director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong, Woods noted a handful of teams that he’s highly interested in, including Auburn, Indiana, the ‘Cuse, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
Woods said of Syracuse football, “The way Coach (Fran) Brown relates to players and parents with talking to them, he’s great at building a team. Met Coach Nunz a few weeks ago and how well he knows football and his whole family has been around it for years.”
