Syracuse basketball 5-star commit Sadiq White scores top 20 nationally in new rankings
By Neil Adler
Five-star forward Sadiq White Jr. from Charlotte, N.C., who verbally committed to Syracuse basketball in late May, has moved into the top 20 around the country in the 2025 class.
Recently, recruiting services such as 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals.com have refreshed their rankings for the rising high school senior class. The 6-foot-8 White climbed in all of these updated ratings, and ESPN now has him in the top 20 overall.
I try not to get too hung up on recruiting rankings, either positively or negatively. But one can't help but feel encouraged by how analysts and scouts view White on a national scale within the 2025 cycle.
The industry-generated 247Sports Composite continues to place him as a five-star prospect in this class. Virtually all of the main recruiting Web sites currently rank White in the top 25 of his cycle.
With a strong senior year, I see no reason why Sadiq can't evolve into a consensus five-star, top-15 national prospect in the 2025 class.
Syracuse basketball five-star commit Sadiq White Jr. keeps rising in the 2025 rankings.
In late May, White verbally pledged to the Orange over other finalists Alabama, Southern California, Georgetown, LSU, Tennessee and Texas. He has unofficially visited the Hill two times, and I'd expect White to take an official visit to the 'Cuse at some point.
As a junior in the 2023-24 season, White averaged 16.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game for Myers Park High School in Charlotte, which finished at 27-3 overall and was ranked in the top 25 nationally by several media outlets. MaxPreps, when it released its 2023-24 junior All-America squads, gave White an honorable-mention nod.
White, who recently earned high marks from analysts and scouts for his performances at last month's National Basketball Players Association ("NBPA") Top 100 Camp in Orlando, Fla., has competed in the latest AAU season for the 17U group of the Charlotte-based Team United in Nike's EYBL league.
From July 13 to July 21, the EYBL will hold its annual Peach Jam tournament in North Augusta, S.C., and Team United has made the 24-team field.
In the latest 2025 rankings from ESPN, White checks in at No. 5 at power forward within his class. A Syracuse basketball 2024 commit, Donnie Freeman from Washington, D.C., is the No. 1 power forward nationally in his class. That's impressive.
Here are the 2025 ratings for White via updates from 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals.com:
247 Sports: No. 21 overall, No. 6 at power forward and No. 1 in North Carolina
ESPN: No. 20 overall, No. 5 at power forward and No. 1 in North Carolina
Rivals.com: No. 23 overall and No. 5 at power forward
White moved up four spots from 247Sports, 10 spots via ESPN and two spots per Rivals.com.
