Syracuse basketball coaches have gotten off to an impressive start with their 2025 class, buoyed by the recent verbal pledge from Sadiq White Jr. from Charlotte, N.C.
The 6-foot-8 White, a five-star forward and a consensus top-35 national prospect in the rising senior class, recently committed to the Orange over other finalists Alabama, Southern California, Georgetown, LSU, Tennessee, and Texas.
White put forth an All-American junior season during the 2023-24 campaign for the nationally ranked Myers Park High School in Charlotte. On the AAU circuit, he is a standout with the 17U squad of the Charlotte-based Team United in Nike's EYBL league.
Offered a scholarship by the 'Cuse in late April of 2023, Orange coaches have prioritized White in the 2025 class for a while now. He's unofficially visited the Hill twice, and the Syracuse basketball staff has watched him in other capacities, including during open gyms at his school and amid live periods in grassroots hoops.
Let's delve into the latest 2025 rankings for Syracuse basketball 5-star commit Sadiq White Jr.
At the time of this writing, these are the most recent 2025 ratings for White from the primary recruiting services:
247Sports Composite
5 stars, No. 24 overall, No. 8 at power forward and No. 1 in North Carolina
On3 Industry Ranking
4 stars, No. 26 overall, No. 6 at power forward and No. 1 in North Carolina

4 stars, No. 25 overall, No. 6 at power forward and No. 1 in North Carolina
ESPN

On3

Rivals
4 stars, No. 25 overall
I could envision White, as he shines on the AAU circuit and in his senior year of high school, making a run at five-star status in the 2025 cycle across all of the main recruiting Web sites.
As I noted in another recent column, White's commitment to the 'Cuse means that the first two official verbal pledges under head coach Adrian Autry at the high school level are both five stars, being White and 2024 commit Donnie Freeman from Washington, D.C., a five-star power forward rated as high as No. 6 nationwide in his class.
I firmly believe that Autry and his top-flight staff have a lot of positive recruiting momentum these days. With White on board, I also think that his commitment could prove a springboard for other highly ranked 2025 targets to potentially pledge to Syracuse basketball in the coming months.
