Syracuse football 2025 priority recruit Quentin Murphy recently said via his X page that he plans to make his college decision on June 1.

The high three-star quarterback/athlete from Arkansas received a scholarship offer from the 'Cuse coaching staff in early January of this year.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Murphy visited the Hill in April. The previous month, in March, Murphy named a top three of Syracuse football, Georgia Tech and Arkansas.

Not too long ago, per 247Sports analyst Mike McAllister, the entire Orange coaching staff was expected to visit Murphy, who attends the Parkview Arts and Science Magnet High School in Little Rock, Ark.

I had noted in a couple of recent columns that Syracuse football was receiving some analyst buzz for Murphy on several recruiting Web sites.

However, more recently, as Murphy's commitment announcement lurks on the horizon, another one of his suitors has picked up buzz that the 'Cuse previously appeared to have.

Some analyst buzz for Syracuse football 2025 target Quentin Murphy has shifted to the SEC.

When I wrote this column on Saturday, Southeastern Conference member Arkansas had jumped into the lead for Murphy on the On3 Web site. In recent days, at least two top experts had logged predictions for the Razorbacks in Murphy's recruiting process.

They are On3 director of recruiting Chad Simmons and On3's vice president of national college football recruiting and the transfer portal, Steve Wiltfong. Simmons and Wiltfong, it's important to note, are two of the most connected analysts out there in college and high school football recruiting.

We'll know for sure whether the 'Cuse has prevailed for Murphy, and these sorts of analyst prognostications aren't 100 percent accurate, but from my perspective, this doesn't bode well for Syracuse football's chances here.

In mid-April, top 247Sports analyst Mike McAllister had made a prediction in the Orange's direction for Murphy, and I was still seeing that present on Saturday. Mike is the top recruiting analyst out there covering 'Cuse sports, so his projection is also important.

I guess the bottom line is that everyone will find out what Murphy's college choice is on June 1.

Murphy is rated as a top-500 national prospect in the 2025 cycle, according to both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking. ESPN, when I wrote this piece, had him as the No. 7 dual-threat quarterback nationally in the rising high school senior class.

To date, the Orange has at least 19 verbal commitments in its 2025 class. On Saturday, the 247Sports Composite rated this 'Cuse cycle at No. 11 overall, while it checked in at No. 7 nationwide via Rivals.com.

In late March, Syracuse football scored a pledge from 2025 four-star quarterback Luke Carney out of the Dallas Christian School in Mesquite, Texas.

Additionally, 2025 four-star quarterback Malik Washington of Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, Md., is scheduled to take an official visit to the 'Cuse next month.
