Boeheim's Army, the collection of former Syracuse basketball stars and other standouts who hope to win $1 million this summer by capturing The Basketball Tournament ("TBT"), has its point guard, and it's a stellar addition.

Jacob Gilyard, who in recent years has suited up professionally in the NBA, the NBA's G League and overseas, has come on board at Boeheim's Army, which now has a roster eight players, six of whom played at the 'Cuse.

A huge congrats and welcome from Orange Nation to Jacob!

The 5-foot-9 Gilyard played for five seasons at Atlantic 10 Conference member Richmond. Over his tenure with the Spiders, he captured various Atlantic 10 honors while averaging 13.2 points, 5.1 assists and 2.9 rebounds per contest.

Gilyard, at Richmond, made 43.9 percent from the field, 36.2 percent from 3-point land and 82.0 percent from the free-throw line. He left Richmond as the school's leader in career assists, steals and 3-pointers. His 466 career steals are the most in NCAA Division I history.

Boeheim's Army has a strong roster for this summer's TBT.

I love the addition of Gilyard. He's a tremendous defensive player and passer. He can shoot it from deep. His court vision is top-notch.

The Boeheim's Army 2025 roster, so far, features two non-Syracuse basketball players. They are Gilyard and power forward Nick Perkins, a former star player at Buffalo.

The roster also includes shooting guard Buddy Boeheim, forward Jimmy Boeheim, center Rakeem Christmas, big man Chris McCullough, shooting guard Malachi Richardson and wing Elijah Hughes.

While Boeheim's Army is likely to add a couple of more players, I like how this roster is shaping up. Lots of strong outside shooting, athleticism and rim protection from Christmas, Perkins and McCullough.

Syracuse basketball assistant Allen Griffin is Boeheim's Army's head coach this summer. The 64-team, $1 million winner-take-all tournament, which Boeheim's Army won in 2021, will have eight regional sites, and Syracuse is one of them, hosting games next month at the SRC Arena on the campus of Onondaga Community College.

Former Orange head coach and Hall of Famer Jim Boeheim is the head coach emeritus of Boeheim's Army in 2025, while businessman and philanthropist Adam Weitsman returns as the team's chairman. Weitsman also served in this role in 2021, when Boeheim's Army cut down the nets.
