Zion Green, the elite 2027 prospect from Philadelphia and Syracuse basketball recruit, is headed to the talent-laden Washington, D.C., metropolitan area for his junior season.
Earlier this month, per posts on X, word broke that the five-star power forward will transfer to Mt. Zion Prep in Lanham, Md., which is one of the top programs in the DMV, a key recruiting market for the Orange staff.

The 6-foot-8 Green moves to Mt. Zion Prep from Camden High School in Camden, N.J. Before that, he competed for the Imhotep Institute Charter High School in Philadelphia.
The Orange staff offered a scholarship to Green in late June of last year. He took an unofficial visit to the Hill not too long ago, in late August. This past weekend, another 2027 prospect, four-star center Theo Edema of the Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Mass., took an official visit to Syracuse basketball.

Five-star Zion Green will team up with another Syracuse basketball target.
In the upcoming 2025-26 season, Mt. Zion Prep will play in the prestigious power conference of The Grind Session, whose other members include Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., the DME Academy in Daytona Beach, Fla., Huntington Expression Prep in Huntington, W.Va., and the Southeastern Preparatory Academy in Orlando, Fla.
A campaign ago, in 2024-25, Mt. Zion Prep had a great term, finishing at No. 24 across the country, according to final rankings from ESPN recruiting director Paul Biancardi.
Earlier this summer, 2027 four-star point guard Jacob Canton transferred from the Rutgers Preparatory School in Somerset, N.J., to Mt. Zion Prep. The 6-foot-2 Canton played in the Orange's annual Elite Camp in late August of 2024. I'm told he continues to hear from the 'Cuse coaching staff regularly these days.
According to recruiting services, besides Syracuse basketball, Green's full scholarship offer sheet includes schools such as Mississippi State, Kansas State, Seton Hall, Penn State, UTEP, Maryland, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Villanova, Wake Forest and Washington.
Within the 2027 class, Green's highest national ranking currently comes via Rivals, which has him at No. 11 overall. At the time of this writing, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite placed Green at No. 23 nationwide, No. 6 at power forward and No. 1 in Maryland.
The Syracuse basketball staff has offered a scholarship to at least 15 prospects in the 2027 cycle. Beyond Green and Edema, they include:
•Four-star point guard J'Lon Lyons of the Clinton Grace Christian School in Clinton, Md.
