Syracuse basketball coaches have made their second scholarship offer to a big-time prospect in the 2027 class.

Per a post on X from THE MILLER REPORT, the Orange staff has offered Zion Green, a 6-foot-8 power forward from the Philadelphia market who is tracking as one of the top players nationwide in the rising high school sophomore class. A huge congrats to Zion!

Green attends the powerhouse Imhotep Institute Charter High School in Philadelphia, which won a state title this past season. Per THE MILLER REPORT, on the AAU circuit, Green suits up for the New Jersey Scholars in Nike's EYBL league.

As I noted in a column on Monday, 'Cuse coaches also recently offered a scholarship to 2027 five-star forward Baba Oladotun out of James Hubert Blake High School in Silver Spring, Md., and the Oxon Hill, Md.-based Team Durant on the EYBL circuit. ESPN currently ranks Oladotun as the No. 1 overall player in the 2027 cycle.

Syracuse basketball has entered the fray for 2027 four-star power forward Zion Green.

In the 2023-24 campaign, Green played for an excellent Imhotep squad that went 29-3 overall and captured the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association ("PIAA") Class 5A championship last March.

In final rankings for this most recent term, MaxPreps placed the Panthers at No. 29 nationwide and No. 1 in Pennsylvania.

From a recruiting standpoint, besides the Orange, Green holds an offer from UTEP. However, college coaches can't start initiating direct communication with 2027 prospects until June 15 of next year, so his offer sheet will likely expand down the line.

It's encouraging that Syracuse basketball coaches have gotten involved with both Oladotun and Green early on in their respective recruiting processes.

This past weekend was an NCAA live period, with showcase events being held in various locations where college coaches could watch recruits in person as they competed for their high school teams (rather than their AAU programs).

According to a post on X from top scout Ari Rosenfeld, the owner of ELITE High School Scouting, the 'Cuse staff was in attendance at the Philly Live event for a game last Sunday morning between Imhotep and the Andrews Osborne Academy from Willoughby, Ohio.

Per Rosenfeld, other college squads at this particular Philly Live contest included Mississippi State, Villanova, Virginia, Temple, Saint Joseph's, La Salle and Drexel, among others.

At a separate Philly Live session in late June, Green was among the high school prospects who landed praise from 247Sports national analyst Dushawn London for their performances.

While most recruiting services have yet to publish initial 2027 rankings, ESPN has, and it ranks Green as four stars, No. 19 overall, No. 6 at power forward and No. 2 in Pennsylvania within his class.
