Five-star wing/forward Ahmed Nur from Minnesota, one of several priority recruits for Syracuse basketball in its 2027 class, has completed his official visit to the Orange.
Inside the Loud House will check in with sources soon to see how the visit went, although if the photos on Nur's Instagram page are any indication, his trip to Central New York went well. It's always fun to see the comments section when recruits post official visit photos, and Nur received words of encouragement, via Instagram, from SU legend Carmelo Anthony ("Lets go champ!!!") and Syracuse basketball junior guard/wing Gavin Doty ("yesss").
The 6-foot-9, 190-pound Nur was originally scheduled to begin his official visit to the 'Cuse on Friday, Aug. 28, but he moved up the start date to this past Wednesday, Aug. 26, a source confirmed to Inside the Loud House.
Nur's recruitment blew up as he won MVP in June at the prestigious NBPA Top 100 Camp in Rock Hill, S.C., with college coaches such as Syracuse's Gerry McNamara on hand at the annual event. The new Orange staff offered a scholarship to Nur around the time of the NBPA Top 100 Camp.
Besides the 'Cuse, he has officially visited Ole Miss and Purdue, unofficially visited in-state team Minnesota and is scheduled to officially visit Texas beginning on September 4.
Syracuse basketball is heavily involved with 2027 five-star wing/forward Ahmed Nur.
Previously, Nur was a standout at Hopkins High School in Minnetonka, Minn. However, as a senior, the Hopkins, Minn., native will play for the loaded CIA Bella Vista in Phoenix, which is part of the 15-team Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Scholastic ("EYBL Scholastic") and won this past April's Chipotle Nationals in Fishers, Ind.
As Inside the Loud House noted in a recent column, experts anticipate that CIA Bella Vista will be among a group of teams that will significantly vie for a high school national title in the upcoming 2026-27 campaign. McNamara and his staff have also offered three 2028 prospects who will play for the Bears this coming season.
Both composite ranking systems, from Rivals and 247Sports, place Nur inside the top 30 nationally within the 2027 class. His highest national rating comes from ESPN, which has Nur at No. 19 overall.
This spring and summer on the Adidas 3SSB circuit in grassroots hoops, Nur averaged 12.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per game while competing for the 17U team of the Milwaukee-based Power 5. He made nearly two 3-pointers per contest.
As far as the Orange's recruiting efforts in 2027, Nur just wrapped up his official visit. Five-star wing/forward Moussa Kamissoko, who recently transferred to the Spire Academy in Geneva, Ohio, will officially visit the 'Cuse from September 3 to September 4.
Five-star point guard Nasir Anderson of Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., recently included Syracuse basketball in his top 10. He has not scheduled official visits yet.
The Orange is in the top 10 of five-star combo guard King Gibson, the top seven of four-star guard Devin Cleveland and the top five of four-star wing Carson Crawford. It remains to be seen if any of these three 2027 prospects will visit the Hill at some point.
To date, SU has one verbal pledge in its high school senior cycle from three-star wing and Albany, N.Y., product Jack Donohue out of The Newman School in Boston.
