Syracuse basketball junior Gavin Doty is a top-100 transfer in college hoops ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, according to the latest rankings from ESPN.

The 6-foot-5, 190-pound Doty, a wing from Fulton, N.Y., is No. 66 in the most recent ESPN rankings, which were published earlier this week. He's the only member of the Orange 2026-27 roster who made the ESPN list.

Doty transferred to the 'Cuse from Siena, where he had a breakout sophomore campaign under head coach Gerry McNamara. The Saints went to the 2026 NCAA Tournament and nearly knocked off No. 1 seed Duke in the first round. Doty had 21 points against the Blue Devils.

SU officials hired McNamara, in March, to replace Adrian Autry, who had been at the program's helm for the past three years. Not long after McNamara was named the next Syracuse basketball head coach, Doty announced that he would transfer to the 'Cuse.

Doty is expected to reside in McNamara's starting rotation at the onset of the 2026-27 stanza, either at shooting guard or small forward. As a sophomore at Siena, he averaged 36.8 minutes, 18.0 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 steals per game while making 45.8 percent from the field, 32.6 percent from beyond the arc and 85.8 percent from the free-throw line. Doty was a unanimous selection to the All-MAAC first team.

From the ESPN write-up: "There won't be much of a transition for Doty in terms of playing style, as he's following Gerry McNamara from Siena to Syracuse. Doty's performance against Duke in the NCAA tournament should also offer some optimism. He'll have every chance to be a top scorer for the Orange."

If I had to venture a guess, I'd say that either Doty or SU junior Aiden Tobiason, a four-star transfer guard from Temple, will lead the 'Cuse in scoring in 2026-27. Tobiason will also likely be in the starting line-up for McNamara, with him and Doty relatively interchangeable at shooting guard and small forward.

In national transfer rankings from 247Sports, Doty is four stars, No. 83 overall and No. 10 at shooting guard. Via On3's national transfer ratings, he is four stars, No. 99 nationally and No. 13 at small forward.
