5-star will visit Syracuse basketball later this month. Scouts like his shooting potential.

Ahmed Nur is one of several priority recruits for Syracuse basketball in the 2027 class, Inside the Loud House has been told by sources.

The 6-foot-9, 190-pound Nur, a five-star wing/forward and a top-25 national prospect in the high school senior class, will take an official visit to the Orange from August 28 to August 30. He's also got upcoming official visits scheduled to Ole Miss and Washington, and Nur previously went on an official visit to Purdue and an unofficial visit to Minnesota, a hometown team for the Hopkins, Minn., native.

The new 'Cuse staff under first-year head coach Gerry McNamara is ultra-high on Nur, having offered him earlier this summer. Nur caught fire on a national scale in June, when he won MVP at the prestigious NBPA Top 100 Camp in Rock Hill, S.C., with McNamara and many other college coaches in attendance.

So what kind of prospect is Ahmed Nur? Scouts definitely dig his shooting potential. Arman Jovic of PDTScouting wrote earlier this year, "Ahmed Nur has continued to display his vastly fun profile during his junior year, and his play is slowly starting to materialize into more than just intriguing flashes. ... Very fluid sharpshooter, with some semblance of guard skills, developing into a really good player."

Syracuse basketball is recruiting 2027 5-star wing/forward Ahmed Nur hard.

Nur spent his junior year at Hopkins High School in Minnetonka, Minn. For his senior season, though, he has transferred to the powerhouse CIA Bella Vista in Phoenix, which is part of the loaded 15-team Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Scholastic ("EYBL Scholastic") and won this past April's Chipotle Nationals in Fishers, Ind.

At this juncture, Nur's full scholarship offer sheet totals around 30 from schools such as Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Southern California, BYU, Miami, Rutgers, Kansas, Indiana, Texas, Utah State, Purdue, Florida State, Xavier, Minnesota, UNLV, SMU, Cincinnati, Ole Miss, Alabama, Georgia Tech, Arizona State, West Virginia, Mississippi State, Washington, San Diego State, Penn State, St. Bonaventure, Charlotte, Wake Forest and Providence.

This spring and summer on the Adidas 3SSB circuit, Nur suited up for the 17U team of the Milwaukee-based Power 5. Throughout NCAA-permitted live periods, Syracuse basketball coaches were in for Nur, including at last month's season-ending playoffs in Rock Hill, S.C.

At the Adidas 3SSB tournament in South Carolina, Nur averaged 10.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, earning praise from scouting experts at The Circuit. For the entire Adidas 3SSB campaign, Nur averaged 12.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest. He also averaged 1.9 made 3-pointers per game, and that included five shots from deep, and 28 total points, in a mid-May victory for Power 5.

In a recent evaluation, Adam Finkelstein, the director of scouting for CBS Sports and 247Sports, wrote that "Nur’s combination of size, fluidity, and skill gives him glaring upside, but he’s still in the early stages of turning that potential into consistent production."

Scouts say that Nur has a fluid shooting motion and a soft touch. The SU priority target is a solid ball-handler and rebounds well, experts say. Defensively, he's agile, but Nur, like many high school players, will need to add strength to his frame.

"Standing at 6-foot-9 with a 7-foot-1 wingspan, (Nur) has good positional size and length, but a still lean build with somewhat higher hips and a lack of strength that prevents him from being able to play through contact ... His shooting potential is the most glaring budding weapon," Finkelstein added.
