New Jersey native Michai White, a 2028 five-star point guard who visited Syracuse basketball last summer, is the latest Orange recruiting target to announce plans to transfer to a new school for the upcoming 2026-27 season.

Per a post on X from national analyst Sam Kayser, the 6-foot-1 White is headed to the juggernaut Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Most recently, White competed for the Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H.

On Nike's EYBL circuit so far in the current AAU season, White has proven to be one of the top scorers in the main 17U division while competing for the Albany, N.Y.-based City Rocks.

In 2025-26, Prolific Prep went 38-4 overall and received a bid to the season-ending Chipotle Nationals. Media outlets such as ESPN and MaxPreps placed the Crew in the top 10 of their final national rankings this past campain in high school hoops.

Two Prolific Prep standouts have landed scholarship offers from the new Orange staff under first-year head coach Gerry McNamara. They are five-star point guard Nasir Anderson and five-star center Lewis Uvwo.

Syracuse basketball target Michai White is on the move.

In late August of last year, White took an unofficial visit to the Hill to compete in SU's annual Elite Camp. After the 2028 contact period opened on June 15, the new Syracuse basketball staff was in touch with White, who is the No. 19 national prospect and the No. 2 point guard in his class, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

White is one of numerous highly rated players in the rising high school junior class who have heard from McNamara and his assistants since June 15. According to recruiting services, White's full scholarship offer sheet includes schools such as Auburn, Indiana, Louisville, Maryland, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Stanford, Virginia, Northwestern, UNLV, Villanova, VCU, Providence and Florida State.

Other schools that are in contact with White include Houston, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Kansas State and Ohio State, among others.

For the City Rocks, White (who is playing up a division) is averaging 21.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.5 steals per contest while making 46.0 percent from the field, 31.1 percent from beyond the arc and 75.5 percent from the free-throw line. He's currently No. 5 in the Nike league's 17U division in scoring.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if Syracuse basketball ultimately offers White. He's an excellent floor general in the 2028 cycle. The next EYBL session, ahead of the season-ending Peach Jam later this month, will run from July 8 to July 12. College coaches, including the Orange staff, are expected to be on hand amid the upcoming live period, which will run from July 9 to July 12.
