Five-star point guard Michai White, who has unofficially visited Syracuse basketball in the past, has heard from the new Orange staff under first-year head coach Gerry McNamara since the 2028 contact period opened on June 15.

Since June 15, McNamara and his assistants have reached out to a bunch of 2028 prospects, who are entering their junior year of high school. Per a post on X from recruiting analyst Jake Weingarten, the 6-foot-1 White has recently heard from schools such as Syracuse, Houston, Providence, Indiana, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Louisville and Notre Dame, among many others.

In the 2025-26 season, White was a standout for the Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H., which was a member of the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Scholastic ("EYBL Scholastic") but will not be in the upcoming 2026-27 campaign.

For Brewster during EYBL Scholastic play in 2025-26, White averaged 12.93 points, 2.47 rebounds, 2.20 assists and 1.53 steals per contest while making 41 percent from the field, 31 percent from beyond the arc and 74 percent from the free-throw line.

Syracuse basketball is showing an interest in 2028 five-star point guard Michai White.

This spring and summer on the AAU circuits, White is balling out for the 17U team of the Albany, N.Y.-based City Rocks in Nike's EYBL league (while playing up a division). He's currently No. 5 in the 17U division in scoring.

For the City Rocks, which has sent numerous of its players to the Hill over the years, White is averaging 21.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.5 steals per contest while connecting on 46.0 percent from the field, 31.1 percent from beyond the arc and 75.5 percent from the free-throw line.

According to recruiting services, White's full scholarship offer sheet includes teams such as Auburn, Indiana, Louisville, Maryland, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Stanford, Virginia, Northwestern, UNLV, Villanova, VCU, Providence and Florida State, among others.

Within the 2028 cycle, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite places White as five stars, No. 22 overall and No. 3 at point guard. ESPN, meanwhile, ranks him at No. 17 nationally in his class.

In late August of last year, White took an unofficial visit to Central New York to participate in Syracuse basketball's annual Elite Camp. Let's see if McNamara and his staff offer a scholarship to this talented floor general.
