Michael Nnabuife, a three-star tight end in the 2027 class from Baltimore who has been recruited hard by Syracuse football coaches for more than a year, announced his verbal commitment to the Orange on Wednesday.

Ahead of his college decision, according to Rivals, the 6-foot-5, 242-pound Nnabuife had a final five of the Orange, Alabama, Florida, N.C. State and Maryland, a hometown team for the talented tight end out of Baltimore powerhouse program Saint Frances Academy.
Nnabuife noted his strong relationship with head coach Fran Brown, co-offensive coordinator/tight ends coach Michael Johnson and recruiting coach Charles Watkins. Nnabuife also cited the recent success of Syracuse football tight ends Oronde Gadsden II and Dan Villari.

The 'Cuse staff, led by ace recruiter Brown, first offered a scholarship to Nnabuife on April 30, 2025. He has visited the Syracuse football program on several occasions.
This past February, Nnabuife said via his X page that he was planning to take an official visit to the Orange from May 29 to May 31.

Syracuse football is heavy these days with its 2027 recruiting efforts.
In the 2025 campaign, Nnabuife was part of a Saint Frances Academy squad that went 9-1 overall and was ranked No. 2 around the country, , according to MaxPreps. Last December, the Panthers won the first-ever Overtime Nationals in Baltimore, defeating Corner Canyon High School from Draper, Utah, by a final score of 37-20. In that victory, Nnabuife caught one pass for 18 yards and a touchdown, per reports.

Within the 2027 class, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite places Nnabuife at No. 1,012 overall, No. 54 at tight end and No. 26 in Maryland. Over at the industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking, he is No. 847 nationally, No. 43 at tight end and No. 21 in Maryland.

Nnabuife's Saint Frances Academy teammate, 2027 three-star running back/athlete Sa’Nir Brooks, verbally committed to the 'Cuse in late January of this year. Brooks plans to officially visit the Orange from June 12 to June 14.

Before Nnabuife's announcement on Wednesday, the Syracuse football 2027 class stood at 12 verbal pledges and arrived at No. 21 around the country on the 247Sports Web site.
Earlier in May, the Orange had hauled in two commitments. They were from running back Xavier Bala of Saint Anthony's High School in South Huntington, N.Y., who is listed as a four-star prospect on ESPN, and three-star cornerback Masiia Acrey of the St. Joseph's Preparatory School in Philadelphia.
