Syracuse basketball is among several college programs that are reportedly showing some level of interest in transfer forward Amarri Monroe, who hails from New York state.

That's according to a post on X from Bobby Deren of 247Sports, who writes that the 6-foot-7, 230-pound Monroe is receiving interest from schools such as the Orange, Rutgers, Indiana, Kansas, Seton Hall, LSU and Miami.

Monroe, who is from Newburgh, N.Y., is a senior at Quinnipiac, which is located in Hamden, Conn., and is a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference ("MAAC"). He has played for Quinnipiac for three seasons, and he also competed at Wofford for one term.

As such, he's waiting on his waiver request to the NCAA to, hopefully, play another season of Division I hoops. At Wofford, he medically withdrew after one semester, according to media reports.

By the way, the 'Cuse coaching staff, a few years ago, did express an interest in Monroe, who was part of the 2022 high school class and spent his senior year at the South Kent School in South Kent, Conn.

Syracuse basketball has reached out regarding transfer forward Amarri Monroe.

In 2025-26, Quinnipiac went 19-13 overall. Monroe, as a senior, averaged 15.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.3 steals per game while making 41.3 percent from the field and 76.2 percent from the free-throw line.

The season before, in 2024-25, Monroe was named the MAAC player of the year. As a junior, he averaged 18.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 2.3 steals per encounter while connecting on 40.5 percent from the field and 82.6 percent from the charity stripe.

The transfer portal opened for business on April 7 and will run through April 21. Syracuse basketball head coach Gerry McNamara and his staff have assembled a solid-looking roster for 2026-27, although they still have scholarships left and will likely add another center, another power forward, another 3-point specialist on the wing, and perhaps another point guard.

Here is SU's roster to date:
•Ryan Moesch, a 2026 four-star point guard from Central New York
•Mark Morano Mahmutovic, a 2026 four-star wing from Slovenia
•Center Abdramane Siby, a 2026 prospect from Mali
•Freshman guard Kiyan Anthony
•Freshman forward Sadiq White Jr.
•Freshman wing Calvin Russell III
•Sophomore guard Noah Lobdell
•Sophomore guard Aiden Tobiason, a four-star transfer from Temple
•Junior guard Garwey Dual, a four-star transfer from McNeese State
•Sophomore guard Gavin Doty, a four-star transfer from Siena
•Junior power forward/center Tasman Goodrick, a transfer from Siena
