Syracuse basketball redshirt senior small forward Nate Kingz, who came on strong in the second half of the Orange's 2025-26 season, has entered the transfer portal, according to a post on X from Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer of 247Sports/CBS Sports.

The transfer portal opened on April 7 and will run through April 21. We now know the future plans - sort of - regarding every 'Cuse player from this past campaign, when Syracuse basketball went 15-17 overall.

The 6-foot-5, 190-pound Kingz was the last piece of the Orange's 2025-26 puzzle, at least among the team's 13 main rotational players. Three guys exhausted their eligibility. Eight players hit the transfer portal. And two - freshman guard Kiyan Anthony and freshman forward Sadiq White Jr. - are coming back for their sophomore stanzas.

Wishing former Syracuse basketball wing Nate Kingz all the best moving forward.

Candidly, I was hoping that Kingz would come back. He reportedly has requested a waiver from the NCAA to play another term of Division I hoops. The native of Salem, Ore., was one of SU's best players in 2025-26.

However, after this past season culminated, SU head coach Adrian Autry and his assistants were let go. Gerry McNamara is now the Orange's head coach, and he's got his own staff. Given Syracuse basketball's commits of late, from both the transfer portal and other recruiting means, it seemed likely that Kingz would depart the Hill.

Before 2025-26, he transferred to the Orange from Oregon State. In 2024-25, Kingz hit on a strong 44.6 percent from beyond the arc. At SU, he struggled with his perimeter shooting early on but hit his stride in the latter half of the 2025-26 season.

For the 'Cuse in the most recent campaign, he averaged 31.3 minutes, 12.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game while connecting on 49.3 percent from the field, 36.7 percent from 3-point land and 61.9 percent from the free-throw line.

In national transfer rankings from 247Sports, Kingz is rated four stars, No. 178 overall and No. 48 at shooting guard. Via national transfer ratings from the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking, he is four stars, No. 138 overall and No. 34 at shooting guard.

Here is the 'Cuse 2026-27 roster to date:
•Ryan Moesch, a 2026 four-star point guard from Central New York
•Mark Morano Mahmutovic, a 2026 four-star wing from Slovenia
