One of the top high school shooters in Maryland will visit Syracuse basketball this coming weekend for its annual Elite Camp.

I've learned that 2027 combo guard Nazir Anderson from Baltimore will take an unofficial visit to the Hill on Saturday, Aug. 23, to suit up in the Orange's Elite Camp. This annual event is an opportunity for high school players across different recruiting cycles to compete at the 'Cuse while Syracuse basketball coaches evaluate them.

Usually, several scholarship offers are doled out to participants following the camp. On Sunday, I also first reported that 2028 wing Billy Stanfield III from the Baltimore area will play in the Orange's Elite Camp this Saturday, too.

The 6-foot-2 Anderson, according to experts, is one of the top shooters in the state of Maryland. Earlier this month, he played in the MADE Hoops VKTRY Jr. All-American Camp in Millersville, Pa.

Syracuse basketball will hold its annual Elite Camp on Saturday.

To date, Anderson holds scholarship offers from schools such as UMass, Liberty, Cornell, Bucknell and Howard. He's also receiving interest from programs including the 'Cuse, Yale, Columbia, Kent State, Dartmouth, Loyola University Maryland, Northeastern and Kansas.

An excellent long-range shooter, as a sophomore during the 2024-25 campaign for his Maryland high school program, Anderson averaged 20 points, four rebounds and three assists per game. He's in the process of transferring to a new team for the upcoming 2025-26 season, when he will be a junior.

I'm told that Anderson is high on Syracuse basketball, and I hope that he picks up an offer from the Orange after the Elite Camp. During the most recent AAU season, he averaged around 14 points per contest while hitting on better than 40 percent from beyond the arc for the Ellicott City, Md.-based Crusader Nation, which plays in an Under Armour-sponsored league.

On June 15 of this year, the contact period opened for the 2027 cycle, meaning that college coaches could start initiating direct communication with rising high school juniors. Once that 2027 contact period opened, the 'Cuse staff reached out to more than two dozen prospects in this class.

To date, Syracuse basketball has offered a scholarship to at least 13 players in the 2027 cycle that I'm aware of, and we could see more offers doled out to rising juniors following this Saturday's Elite Camp.
